What Is Tempered Glass?

Duralex is the inventor of the glass tempering process. But what makes this type of glass so unique? Tempered glass is an exceptionally durable type of glass made by applying certain treatments to normal glass. The resulting material is completely nonporous and two-and-a-half times stronger than any ordinary glass. Because the material is also highly resistant to thermal shock, you can use Duralex glasses and mixing bowls for hot or cold items, and they can be put in the microwave as well. It’s also shatterproof, so if it does break, it will break into small chunks rather than tiny jagged shards. It’s beautiful yet practical, making it a perfect fit for any household—even those with young children.
