Ingredients

• Store-bought colored fondant in black, yellow and white
• Toothpicks
• Gel food coloring

Procedure

1. Roll 2 small balls of fondant, one black and one yellow.
2. Form the balls into log shapes.
3. Using a knife, cut into slices the width of the bees stripes.
4. Use a dab of water as glue to connect the slices, alternating yellow and black.
5. Gently press together and shape into the bee.
6. Use white fondant to make wings and connect them to the bee with a dab of water.
7. Insert toothpicks into the undersides of the bees for placement on the cake.
8. Set the bees out to dry and set up for about an hour. You can refrigerate the bees to speed up the process.
9. Once dry, paint the bees with the gel food coloring to darken up the black stripes on the bees.
