Grilled Bacon and Blue Cheese Sliders
A staple of summer barbecues, sliders are a popular choice for outdoor parties. To make your mini burgers stand out amongst the crowd of traditional sliders, add Gorgonzola cheese and bacon for a memorable snack with zesty flavor.
Makes 12 Sliders
Ingredients
- 4 slices thick-cut bacon, cut crosswise into ¼-inch pieces
- 1 ½ pounds ground chuck, 80% lean
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 4 ounces gorgonzola cheese, crumbled
Procedure
- Place a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the bacon and cook, stirring occasionally, until crispy, about 10 minutes. Remove bacon with a slotted spoon and transfer to a paper towel lined plate to drain and cool.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Worcestershire, mustard, salt and pepper, stir to combine. Using a 2 ounce scoop, divide beef into 12 balls of equal size. Take a few pieces of cooked bacon and a few crumbles of cheese and push them into the center of each burger ball. Flatten burger into a 3-inch patty and place each patty into the burger grill basket.
- Preheat the grill to medium high heat. Place grill basket on the grill and cook to desired doneness, about 2 minutes per side for medium. Split the buns in half and place on the edge of grill, cook 1-2 minutes until lightly toasted. Serve the sliders on the grilled buns.
