Grilled Bacon and Blue Cheese Sliders

A staple of summer barbecues, sliders are a popular choice for outdoor parties. To make your mini burgers stand out amongst the crowd of traditional sliders, add Gorgonzola cheese and bacon for a memorable snack with zesty flavor.

Makes 12 Sliders

Ingredients

  • 4 slices thick-cut bacon, cut crosswise into ¼-inch pieces
  • 1 ½ pounds ground chuck, 80% lean
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 ounces gorgonzola cheese, crumbled

Procedure

  1. Place a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the bacon and cook, stirring occasionally, until crispy, about 10 minutes. Remove bacon with a slotted spoon and transfer to a paper towel lined plate to drain and cool.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Worcestershire, mustard, salt and pepper, stir to combine. Using a 2 ounce scoop, divide beef into 12 balls of equal size. Take a few pieces of cooked bacon and a few crumbles of cheese and push them into the center of each burger ball. Flatten burger into a 3-inch patty and place each patty into the burger grill basket.
  3. Preheat the grill to medium high heat. Place grill basket on the grill and cook to desired doneness, about 2 minutes per side for medium. Split the buns in half and place on the edge of grill, cook 1-2 minutes until lightly toasted. Serve the sliders on the grilled buns.
