Recently my daughter served me coffee at her home, made with this same stoneware pour-over cone. She thought I might be leery of this method, but it works well! She used a paper filter and plenty of good coffee, giving it a little stir while pouring from a Zojirushi water boiler, which I also intend to buy.

Have another, it is THE best! No plastic, easy to wash, does the job.

Needed a non-plastic pourover filter holder that took standard paper cones.

Is this supposed to fit all mugs? I just received mine and the rim underneath is the same size as my mugs so it won't stay on.
Allison G on Aug 31, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Although these are standard sized, they don't necessarily fit all mugs.
Is the diameter for the area that rests on the coffee cup 3.5 for the #2 Cone?
Bear F on Jan 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The part that rests on the cup is 2 1/2" in diameter. The overall base diameter is 3 3/4".
What is the best grind to use ?
JoAnn S on Feb 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I'd recommend medium-fine. Remember, you'll be using this with a coffee filter, so something slightly finer than what you'd use in a drip machine is perfect.

Fortunately, because you're controlling the pour by hand, anywhere from medium to fine is probably ok - doesn't need to be exact.
Where is this made (Country). What is stoneware and how does it compare to bone china?
Mimi E on Nov 28, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This is made in China, exclusively for Sur La Table. These are a brighter white than bone china.
Does this company make a #6 filter size? If not who?
A shopper on May 11, 2014
BEST ANSWER: No, these filters only come in the #2 & #4 size. I wasn't able to find anyone that makes a stoneware #6 filter
Would it really kill you to provide the CLEAR and exact dimensions?
Not just a jumble of numbers.
What's the height, what's the diameter--and what's the outside diameter of the protruding ring that's supposed to fit inside the mug?
A shopper on Jan 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have the smaller one. It is 3 1/8 inches high; diameter, not including handle, of course: 4 inches; the bottom diameter, is 3 1/8 but under that is a "ring" that fits inside a cup/ mug, and that is 2 3/8 inches. So you would need a mug at least 2 3/8 inches wide at the top. My "Captured Unicorn" mug from the Met Museum of Art is too small, and my GK Chesterton mug is exactly as wide as the bottom of the cone and works fine, no leaking. All my other umpteen mugs are just right, including the very large Starbucks one. My daughter has the larger cone and she thinks the smaller one is preferable. I always give my coffee grounds a little gentle stir as they are dripping. Also, I heat mug and cone in hot water before using because I am a heat freak.
is this able to sit directly on top of the large hario glass server? (800ml)
A shopper on Jan 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it can.
Will the #4 fit a 6 cup melitta glass coffee pot?
A shopper on May 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure if it will fit specifically, but I can tell you that the OUTSIDE diameter of the bottom ring (it fits within the opening of a receptacle & is not visible in the photos), is 3 & 5/8". So if the INSIDE diameter of the opening of your Melitta pot is that size or larger, I'd say your good go!
