Wow, a bendable support that goes in the oven. This is great, I put it in my Pyrex glass dishes and it holds a chicken or a pork loin up nice and steady. I used to have a small cookie rack in there, but it was too shallow, and would my chicken would slide around dangerously when moving it. I also used it in a crock pot to slow cook a pork shoulder with great results, trying to put veggies under it never worked as well as this, they always got too mushy. And this is way easier to clean than a wire rack - the silicone is non-stick and flexible, so caked-on crusty bits will literally slide right off. I used to have to scrub that wire rack for 5 minutes to get it halfway clean
I love to "roast" whole chickens in my crockpot, but they always sit on the bottom and stew in all the drippings. This bent nicely to fit in the bottom of my large crockpot, and formed a nice, sturdy base for the chicken. It raises more than an inch off the bottom. I'm very pleased with this item, and I love that it goes in the top rack of the dishwasher for easy cleanup! Can't wait to use it again!!
Looks cool and easier to clean than a rack. My hairdresser is a gourmet cook and I'm always trying to find something unique for him (onion goggles were a great hit last year!) so I think this will do the job.
Best Answer:YES!I've used it in a crock pot to cook a pork shoulder for 6 hours. And it worked great. But be careful, the website says it's oven safe to 500 degrees F, so I'd make sure not to turn the crock pot up too high (mine doesn't have a high setting, some cookers have a high setting to sear meats)
