F-A-S-T !!!
Love this thermometer. Way, way faster than I expected--almost instantaneous readings. Loved the first one so much that I went back to the store and bought another one to keep in the camper. The neck strap is an added bonus so that I don't have to hunt for the thermometer when checking temperatures at intervals. Superb performance for the price!

How do you calibrate this thermometer?
Lara M on Sep 14, 2014
Best Answer: METHOD 1: ICE WATER
Fill a glass with ice cubes, then top off with cold water.
Stir the water and let sit for 3 minutes.
Stir again, then insert your thermometer into the glass, making sure not to touch the sides.
The temperature should read 32°F (0°C). Record the difference and offset your thermometer as appropriate.
METHOD 2: BOILING WATER
Boil a pot of distilled water.
Once the water has reached a rolling boil, insert your thermometer, making sure not to touch the sides or bottom of the pot.
The temperature should read 212°F (100°C). Record the difference and offset your thermometer as appropriate.
[Note: The boiling point of water will vary with altitude. Use this handy water boiling point calculator to find the right temperature for your elevation.]

Can you use this thermometer to test baked fish?
A shopper on Jun 5, 2015
Best Answer: yes. the probe is pretty thin so you just need to be careful with delicate fish. I suggest you always insert the probe into the side of the food and not from the top.

After I pressed CAL and put a probe in the water does the display supposed to change from "CAL" to show the temperature? Because it didn't on my thermometer... It stays on "CAL" and nothing happens.
Lara M on Sep 30, 2014
Best Answer: After CAL is displayed did you put it in boiling water at 212deg F and raise or lower the displayed temp to 212? Then press CAL again and it should be calibrated. If not try removing the battery and then reinstalling it. Sometimes this works as a reset
