The surface is very good for cutting, but there are some things to be aware of.
This is a very handsome board.
I like the available sizes very much--especially the larger boards.
I prefer the boards with the gripper corners; the ones without grippers tend to slide on the counter.
The surface of the board is initially very slick. So, at least a the the beginning, if I was chopping something and the blade was not exactly perpendicular to the board, it ""skidded"" when it hit the board. Sort of slid out after out went through the food. This seems to be getting better as the board gets a little scuffed up.
These boards wash beautifully in the dishwasher, but there is pronounced chemical smell the first couple of washings, which goes away after a few runs through the dishwasher
Light weight, non-skid corners keep it in place, and nothing to dull my knives. Easy to clean and looks great after washing.
