Amazing santoku
Santokus are my favorite style of knife. And this is my favorite santoku of them all. It's unusual in that it allows a better rocking chop than most santokus which typically favor a more up and down style of cutting. Thought I'd be getting a 6"" chef to match my 8"" chef, but this was a far more comfortable and easy knife for my style of chopping. And while it's similar in size to my 8"" chef, it means that I can still use a Kramer when I have a guest cook using my other one.

If you're thinking of getting the Kramer set, the Santoku is a nice addition

Best one ever
This knife stays sharp and just works so great. I bought it then on Americas Test Kitchen they rated it number one, I made a great choice

Building my Kramer set as funds allow...already own the slicer (which is absolutely awesome) and have other Japanese styled 8" & 10" Chef's knives in my set. Wanted a small to mid sized all around knife so it was a toss up between the Santoku and 6" Chef. Decided on the Santoku because of the solid reviews and the expected versatility.

whay are people referring to a Shun version of this Bob Kramer Santuko knife? Both the Carbon Steel and Damascus blades are Zwilling products.

BEST ANSWER: Keeps a great edge, and food does not stick to the side as bad as some of the other smooth knives. This knife has been sharp enough since I got it to shave a tomato as thin as I would want. i love it. Cost is a bit, but my favorite by far.
Is the blade sharpened on both sides?

I'm looking for the one that has the straight blade on one side.

BEST ANSWER: The Zwilling Bob Kramer Chef Knife is sharpened on both sides.The knife you are looking for that is only sharpened on one side is a Sashimi Knife. Unfortunately Bob Kramer doesn't make a Sashimi Knife either with Zwilling or with Shun. However, there are 3 other selections you may wish to consider
