I love this pan and I use it all the time. It is a perfect size. BE CAREFUL and not touch the handle. It gets blazing hot and you can't even sckooch it over on the burner without degree burns. I know that for a fact. Burned my hand something awful. You won't do it more than once ... twice at the most. If you are careful this is an excellent addition to your collection.
I love my le creuset pans but they are so heavy and this was to be an alternative. An excellent substitute and yes the handles become hot but that's what I expected - they are part of the pot after all. Easy to clean and a pleasure to use. An excellent choice and such good value at $29.95.
No it isn't as good as le crueset, BUT, it is a wonderful lightweight pot! Easy to use, easy to clean, easy to pick up! Especially when on sale! I got mine at half price! The only issue I have with it is that water stays in the lid after cleaning no matter how long I try to wick it away. I have also noticed some ""buildup"" around the edge. I just take a toothpick after a few days and de-gunk it. Love this pot
I ordered two of these one for myself, one for my son, who has taken up an interest in cooking. This is a nice, big pot. Not heavy, like cast iron, so don't expect that kind of performance; however, for soups and stews and most anything that needs a big pot, this is THE pot. I agree with other posters: DO NOT TOUCH THIS POT WITHOUT POTHOLDERS once it's been on heat. I LOVE this pot! Easy to clean, quick to heat, holds a LOT
I bought this pot to use to make my corned beef for St. Patrick's day. AWESOME! It was able to hold a 4lb cut of meat along with the fixings! It's sturdy, easy to handle & very well made! I was lucky to find it on sale, but still at the regular price, a very good deal
I purchased the Sur la Table 6 Quart Casserole shortly before Thanksgiving. I used it to make vegetable soup. I was concerned because I really filled soup up to just a few inches below the top but it cooked perfectly. The steam hole is a great feature on the lid and keeps the liquids from overflowing. The pot is sturdy and lightweight and the knob on the lid remains cool. The cleanup was without effort. This is a fantastic pot and I know I'll be using it many times in the future.
It's a nice pot, great size and shape, and it's light. The only problem with it is that water tends to get in-between the metal rim and glass on the lid and is impossible to get out. I had to have my lid propped up and drain all night long for the water to get out. I don't want to leave the water in because I'm afraid it might mildew. Other than that, it's a nice pot
I bought the pot during a one day sale before Christmas and just used it for a New Year's dish of peas and rice. This is a replacement of a 40 yr old Faberware 4 quart pot. I've eyed this pot several times when advertised, but the recent sale made me buy 2, one for me and one for my daughter. The pot is a good size to make chili, soups and stew and lightweight enough for a petite 65 year old although it looks like it would be heavy. My food did not stick and the pot washes really well. It is also a great looking pot..I like the clear lid and its handles..although my daughter has yet to use hers, she loves it and was thankful I got one for her too!
I have the 8 qt. and absolutely love it. Brought it to one niece's house with chili in it and she asked about it. So I bought her the 6 qt. one. Recently I gave another niece soup in my 8 qt. and she wanted to keep the pot. So, I bought her the 6 qt. and the 5 qt. brazier.
I bought 2 of these on sale. I gave to my daughters. When I open the box, pot looks nice. I asked my daughter how is this pot. According to her, very easy to clean and good size for everyday use. Like others said, only one negative to mention is handle. But every pot has same problem, unless they covered with plastic or wood. They like this pot. Highly recommend
I purchased this pan thinking it would be light weight & easy to clean (which it is) & the reviews were glowing. It was not available in store so it was ordered online. When it arrived (well packed I might add) I took it out & heard some rattling, there were bits of glass from the lid in the stainless rim. No way to get out and noticed the glass was chipped under the rim. I was disappointed. I brought it back to the store & they ordered another one. When the second one arrived it was not packaged as well as the first one but in good condition. I used once and noticed that even though I used a wooden spoon there were marks on the bottom of the pan. The lid is cheaply made and so glad I didn't pay full price. Deciding whether to return
I have several variations on this pot, including a six-quart All-Clad pan, but this quickly became my favorite pot. Soups and stews cook evenly on top of the stove, the pot is lightweight, easy to lift (don't forget the pot-holders though!) and ultra-easy to clean. I think I need another one
I recently purchased this pot needing another that was close to the size of my dutch oven pan. Used it the first time making turkey and noodles and it's now my favorite pot I own! The shape of the pan worried me at first (taller and not as big around), but I found, to my delight, that I can sit it on the smaller of the burners perfectly and it heats very evenly. Yes, the handles are not stay-cool handles, but I could tell that from looking at the picture. The knob on the glass lid does stay cool. Clean-up.....what can I say? I think you could actually wipe it clean with a tissue, it's THAT non-stick. I've used it several times since getting it, and each time I think I love it just a little more. If I could catch it again at the price I paid, I'd definitely buy one for each of the ladies in my family (and possibly another for myself!). Thanks for making such a great product Sur La Table!!!!
Loved everything about this pot except that the handles quickly become so hot that it is necessary to use a pot holder even when stirring. The non-stick surface is great and makes for a quick clean up, being hand wash only
This is a great soup/casserole pot. Nothing sticks to it, it washes up perfectly. I have made soup in it a few times a week since I bought it. It is a great serving piece too and goes right from the stovetop to the table. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves to cook
Bought this pot when on sale. It is an excellent pot. As a senior love the light weight. It acts like a good cast iron pot. One which I use regularly. Doesn't seem to allow food to siick to the bottom like so many other pots and pans do.
It's not perfect, but for the price when it's on sale it's a great value. I've used it for chili and for soup a couple of times. It heats evenly and it's easy to get it to hold at a bare simmer. It's not big enough for stock or a large batch of soup, but for a moderate recipe it works well. It washes up easily also, another nice thing. On the negative side, the handles get extremely hot since they are molded into the pot. I also found that the non-stick coating scratches pretty easily. I haven't used any metal utensils in it and it has a few scratches already. But that doesn't seem to affect the non-stick qualities or make it hard to wash
I purchased this on a deal, and what a deal. $29.95! and it is wonderfull except when u wash it water gets traped in the metal band that surrounds the glass on the lid. I worry about Mold growing if it sit in there to long
Burned my hand the first time I used it by using the handle to move it; have never had a pot manufactured to save on cost by not having stay-cool handles. Money would have been better spent on a better-constructed pot.
This pan is a gift for a friend. I bought one for myself two years ago, and it is my GO TO favorite pan!! I also bought one last year for my daughter, and they use it all the time. So glad you are offering the sale price again this year!

Does the non-stick coating ever get scrap off after many cooking - stirring & scrapping - and washing?
A shopper on Oct 8, 2012
Best Answer:The nonstick coatng on this Dutch oven is extremely durable and will last for several years as long as you treat it like you would any nonstick cookware. To prolong the life of this piece, be sure to only use wood, plastic or silicone cooking tools, try to handwash it rather than using the dishwasher, and avoid heating any higher than a medium-high heat
Is that diameter, and if so, top or bottom? Including handles? Not including handles? What is the height
A shopper on Apr 15, 2013
Best Answer:The dimensions reference the depth and the diameter without handles. The diameter of this product without the handles is 9 1/2"" and with the handles is 12 3/4"". The depth (height) of this product is 5 1/2""
This pot is smaller at the bottom than it is at the top. The smaller measurement is probably the bottom. The higher is the top. BUT, I'm not getting up to measure the pot. The 9" measurement could also mean the height of the pot. OK, OK … I did get up and actually measure the pot … just for you. This pot has a disk thing (looks like steel and is grooved like a record) on the bottom. That disk measures 6" on my ruler and I'd say the pot flares out 1/4" on the bottom all the way around it. The top of the pot measures 9-1/2" (interior measurement at the top - this does NOT include the pot materiel or handles) and the depth is a bit over 5 inches. The pot materiel is about 1/4" thick around. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT TOUCHING THIS POT AFTER IT HAS BEEN ON HEAT UNLESS YOU ARE USING POT HOLDERS unless you want to really singe your fingers. Cast aluminum is very heat conductive. It's big. It can hold a LOT of whatever. It is also very lightweight, which is sometimes an advantage. I really like mine! If you make soup … this is YOUR pot!
Frankly, I don't think it has or needs a non-stick coating. I believe the interior is the cast iron it is made from. The exterior has the lovely enamel colored finish. With cast iron, one does not need ""non-stick"". I can't be sure, because I don't have the pot. I bought it for my son. I do remember that it wasn't slicky smooth, like most ""non-stick"" pots
Is foil the best bet for covering the pot when using it in the oven?

Foil would probably be a good option for you. You may also consider parchment paper as an option.
Are the Sur La Table Hard-Anodized frying pans made of the same material? If not, how do they compare
A shopper on Oct 18, 2013
Best Answer:No these are not made of the same material. The frying pans are hard anodized aluminum, whereas the Dutch oven is made of cast aluminum. Both of them heat very evenly and are constructed of high quality nonstick materials, but the cast aluminum is more light weight than the hard anodized alumium
