LID FITS WELL AND LID HANDLE IS LARGE ENOUGH TO SLIP OVER THE PAN HANDLE TO HANG BOTH TOGETHER. PAN HANDLE IS COMFORTABLE; POT IS WELL BALANCED.

I am not fond of the all-steel lid, since I like to keep an eye on what's cooking (contrary to what your average Old Wife will tell you, a watched pot does, indeed, boil). If you should have another Sur la Table saucepan--and if you don't, I urge you to get one--and it has a 8" glass lid, you can use it for all manner of recipes.
By the way, if you DO buy this saucier (and I urge you to do so), and you want to keep it as good-looking as it is good-cooking, use only Bar Keepers Friend. I am sure you can find it at any relatively large grocery store. You should also put a small piece of soft stuff--the rubberized mesh shelf paper--over whatever you rest the pan on when you are washing it.
Obviously I'm prejudiced, and why not? This collection of pans of all sorts looks good on display, cooks like a dream, and lasts of years if you take care of it, and as if you don't. too; it lasts for years and cooks just as well as it did new but it won't be as pretty if you bang it around, scrub it using SOS-type pads, or do things which will scratch and/or dent stainless steel. If I were still working long hours, I'd probably have be satisfied with the pan's developing a nice patina).
