Beats non-stick anyday
I used to only own non-stick skillets thinking that the traditional skillets were far too difficult to use and after experience with lower quality stainless pans, scorching and a ruined dinner. A few tips from the staff at the local store on care and my non-stick skillets may never see use again! The aluminum core provides nice even heat - no scorching - and everything turns out amazing. The handle stays cool on the stove top and the pan can easily go into the oven to finish cooking or food warm while getting the rest of the meal together

So versatile!
I've been looking for a great skillet that could be used both on the stovetop AND in the oven. I make A LOT of frittatas........and just didn't want to always lug out my heavy cast iron skillet. This pan is wonderful! Easy cleanup, too

How to Clean These Pans

Are there any special restrictions on how to care for these pans? I just used the smallest skillet and have a greasy mess that is rather stuck on. Can I use an abrasive cleaner like comet to get rid of the stuck on portion?also the pan was brand new, was i supposed to ""season"" the pan to mitigate...
A shopper on Dec 16, 2013
Best Answer: Because these pans are stainless steel, abraisive cleaners can be used and the pan does not require seasoning.Sur La Table, John Boos and Earth Friendly Products all make food safe stainless steel cleaners that can also be used.A few other food safe suggestions you can try are lemon juice & sea salt, filling the cookware with water and dropping in a denture tablet, or just rubbing a little yelow mustard into the surface

So, the aluminum 'core' is not sealed inside stainless steel? The food will come into direct contact with the aluminum on the insides of the pan

Is this true of ALL your ""tri-ply"" pans? The aluminum will come into contact with the food
A shopper on Mar 25, 2013
Best Answer: The aluminum core of all of our tri-ply cookware pieces is sandwiched between 2 layers of stainless steel, ensuring that the aluminum never comes in contact with your food

Does the aluminum core extend up into the sides of the skillet?

I purchased another skillet (for a significant amount) at another retailer and the food sticks terribly to the upper portion of the sides of the pan. There is actually a line above which you can see that something must be different because that is how bad it sticks. I'm guessing it's the core.
A shopper on Mar 18, 2013
Best Answer: Yes, the aluminum core extends up the sides of this cookware

Does Sur La Table sell lids that fit these skillets?
A shopper on Jan 19, 2015
Best Answer: I don't believe there are lids available for these skillets. There weren't when I purchased my set of cookware. t purchased a 3-qt sauté pan that is a wonderful addition and a better purchase because of its versatility. It is available in a 5-qt size as well.

where are they made?
A shopper on Nov 25, 2014
Best Answer: Just like almost everything else in the world, they are made in China to American spec (just like the i phone im typing on). These pans conduct heat very well on my gas stove. Definitely a geat buy.

What is the overall thickness of the walls, in millimeters?
Duffy H on Mar 16, 2015
Best Answer: Interior SS layer is 0.4mm, middle aluminum layer is 1.7mm and exterior SS layer is 0.6mm for a total thickness of 2.7mm.
The total thickness of the tri-ply clad is 2.7mm.

Each layer goes completely to the edge of the cookware.

Are there lids made for these skillets?
Salvatore S on Oct 6, 2014
Best Answer: No. Skillets are made for open frying and fast evaporation, so a lid is not typically made for a skillet.
