Invented in Germany, this lid will change the way cooks boil. Overboiling while cooking is a problem everyone has, but with this ingenious silicone tool, that won’t happen anymore. Just place the lid flower-side-up on any pot with a diameter between 10" and 14", then allow it to boil as usual. The KochBlume’s vented flaps release steam and prevent any liquid from spilling over onto your cooktop.
Lid is heat resistant to 400°F. 15" diam. Dishwasher and microwave safe.

I purchased one of these to try it out. It really works. My daughters will now each get one. They were convinced Mom had just found another worthless gadget. But they have seen it work now. The only precaution is you cannot fill your potato pan so full that the lid cannot seal against the top of the pan. If it is not securely lying against the lip of the pan, it will work just like the original pan lid and you will have to clean the burner pan again
My daughter gave me one of these for Christmas 2 years ago, and I have given this as gifts. I love it. Used it last night while boiling pasta. It does what it promises--keeps pots from boiling over when you are cooking rice, pasta and potatoes. The cooking liquid boils up into the lid but not over on the stove. You do need to be careful if you need to lift the spill stopper to check on your food because of the steam that will be released (and you could have a boil over if you don't turn down the burner first). I understand it does not work if your pot has a pouring spout so consider that if yours do
No more boil overs. I love it. My daughter gave me the small one for my birthday. I have since ordered a large one for me and 2 more to give as gifts. I certainly reccomend this product for every cook. Your range stays nice and clean.
I have a smaller model of this item and it truly works well to prevent spillovers from pots that are boiling water. It is silicone, so it does not melt, nor does it lose it's color. it washes up easily. I needed this larger size for large stockpot for making soups or other high fluid volume items. It's very well engineered. The lower price makes this the right time to get it, and I've had it on my wishlist for at least 6 months.
Best Answer:There is no wood at all. It's all silicone. It's amazing. The very small ones don't work that well as it still splatters my stove top but the medium and large size are Awesome. Worth every $$ spent from saving all the cleaning of overflows.
