Will this cocotte work as a ramekin?

What is the difference between this cocotte and a ramekin? I was looking for an 8 oz. ramekin with a lid, would this be a good alternative? I would use it to make creme brulee
A shopper on Oct 7, 2013
Best Answer: The most notable differences between these 2 is that a cocotte usually has a lid and handles, and tends to be more shallow that a ramekin. That being said, yes, you should be able to use this as a ramekin

Can this coquette be used on the stove top?

If so, will it work on an induction cook top?I am looking for a smaller top to make soups, stews, etc for two. Can also be used to reheat and can go right to the table
A shopper on Mar 2, 2013
Best Answer: Because this cocotte is porcelain, it is not induction compatible, and it is not recommended for stovetop use

How heavy I it? Is I lighter than a ceramic casserole?
A shopper on Dec 23, 2014
Best Answer: I put it on a kitchen scale. It weighs 17.95 ounces with the lid. I would say it weighs a little more than comparable size ceramic dish. Not too much more.
