Best egg poacher
This is the best egg poacher I ever used, The eggs don't stick with a little butter added, And it just works like it is supposed to

Perfect poacher!
I generally shy away from single-use tools, but my other half loves poached eggs, and has tried many products over the years without success. We finally settled on this. The pan is beautiful and well-made. Everything fits together nicely and feels quality. Best of all, it works great! You may need to experiment a little to get the eggs just how you like them, but for us, using a hi-medium flame to cook, cooking for 4 1/2 minutes, and then allowing the egg cups to cool for about a minute before plating the eggs worked perfectly, and allowed us to skip greasing the egg cups. Will be enjoying this pan, and beautifully poached eggs for many years to come!

And, with the insert removed, this is a great tri-ply saucepan, by a great maker, at a great price. Can't beat this pan or its value

Great Poacher
I bought an egg poacher from another source and the cups were plastic. It was virtually impossible to poach an eggs such that the white was cooked and the yoke still runny. This poacher has metal cups. Eggs cook quickly and beautifully. Everything about this poacher is quality, pan, top etc. It has been a real pleasure

What a great multi use pan!
I love poached eggs and have had a hard time finding options that work well. The cups release the egg immediatly with just a touch of coconut oil. With my older pan egg still stuck all the way around the egg even though I used more oil in it. This pan works great in an induction stove. It is also great to make sauces.

We couldn't be happier
The quality of this poacher is great! Perfect poached eggs every time. The key is finding the cook time that suits your preference. Egg cups and pan are very easy to clean. We love it!

Teflon Sticks
The pan and lid are of excellent quality but the first time I tried it the eggs stuck to the dishes, even after using butter.. Is there a seasoning like you do to cast iron that I need to do?

Great, sturdy pan.
I was looking for an egg poaching pan like the one my mother had when I was growing up. This one's even better! Very sturdy, heavy-bottomed pan. The egg cups are Teflon-coated (my mom's weren't), which makes the eggs slide out evenly. The glass lid makes it easy to watch the eggs' progress while they cook. A great purchase!

I am very happy with this poacher! Design of handles makes it easy to put cups in and take them out - not always an easy task with other poachers when dealing with the heat of simmering water under the cups. Solid construction. Finished eggs slip out easily.

MADE IN INDONESIA?

Is this a misprint? All my other Demeyere does not say ""made in India"" they are made in Belgium and the Demeyere name is on both the pan and handle. Why is this different? Also, the construction. It says 5 layer. Does the 5 layer extend all the way up the side of the pan or does it only cover the bottom disc
A shopper on Feb 12, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Yes, this egg poacher is made in Indonesia. It is part of the Resto line from Demeyere. Demeyere carries several different lines of cookware, all at different price points. This is a specialty piece from the Resto line, offered at a lower price point, and is made in Indonesia rather than Belgium. It still has the welded handles for hygiene and the 5 layers go all the way up the sides
Does the Demeyere stainless egg poacher work well on induction cooktops?
A shopper on Jan 28, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes, this egg poacher is induction compatible
Are the cups metal?

I have a poacher with plastic cups. It is very hard to cook the white at the bottom of the cup without overcooking the egg. Currently to come close to making it work, I need to put too much water in the pan and cook the eggs with the top off for about two minute
A shopper on Mar 11, 2013
BEST ANSWER: yes, the cups are metal, non stick on the interior and beautiful stainless on the outside. I wiped the cups with a small amount of butter to coat the cups, and the eggs came out beautifully
To cook two eggs, shall I remove the other two cups from the pan, or leave all four cups in the pan?
Yvonne E on Sep 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I really don;t think it makes a lick of difference. If you poach two eggs and leave the other two holes open, you will allow mor steam from the water below to accumulate on the lid of the pan and moisten the eggs you are poaching. Try it both ways and see what you like. I love my pan, use it often
What's the volume capacity of the cups?
A shopper on Aug 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I easily use Jumbo eggs.
The photo of the poached eggs seems like the yolks are quite "set". I like my poached eggs with set whites but runny yolks. Will this egg poacher accomplish this?
A shopper on Mar 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Absolutely. I am just about to buy my third one of these poachers. Just love it. Actually the picture is not quite representative of the cooked egg as some of the white of the egg gets cooked over the yellow. You can cook the eggs as long as you want to get the right consistency. Being British I like to have baked beans with my eggs and they fit nicely in one of the cups also.
What is the exact material that the egg cups are made up of?
R K on Jan 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Your answer can be found on the Demeyere inforamtion link under Technologies:

Excalibur® coating
The Excalibur non stick coating has very good non stick properties and is very strong. Excalibur is based on an additional hard layer of stainless steel between the stainless steel of the pan and the Teflon layer. It is much harder than the traditional non stick layers (based on an aluminium intermediate layer) but not suitable for the use of knife and fork. The four steps in the Excalibur coating process are:

1. The surface is roughened first to provide better adhesion of the other components of the coating process.

2. Then comes the most important part: glowing hot particles of a special stainless steel are sprayed over the rough surface.

3. The particles cool down, toughen and adhere to the surface. They form a series of “peaks and valleys” that are a permanent base for the non stick layer.

4. Different layers of hard fluorpolymers fill the valleys and cover the tops and are constantly kept in place by the special stainless steel “tops”.
how much water is placed in the pan for poaching?
A shopper on Jun 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I don't thin there's a specific amount. I live at a high altitude with a dry climate so it takes longer to boil things and water evaporates quickly. I recommend just experimenting. It won't matter if you put in more water than is needed--just don't use so much that it over flows or so little that it cooks dry. Then monitor until eggs are cooked to the desired amount of hardness.
How to use. No instructions included?
A shopper on Apr 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I think mine did come with care and (limited) cooking instructions. However I can't seem to locate them, now. I usually lightly grease the egg cups with butter or margarine, put one egg in each cop and add salt and pepper. I heat water in the pan to boiling, then add the egg-filled cups and cook the eggs to desired doneness. About the same amount of time as soft or hard-boiled eggs. However I live at a high altitude (7,500 ft) so it may take a little longer than at other locations.
Can the individual egg cups be replaced?
A shopper on May 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I guess you would have to ask the manufacturer. We have had the larger sized pan for years and it has been extremely durable with no signs of wear on the coating on the cups
Is this Part of the Industry5 or Atlantis line?

Is this related to the Industry5 or Atlantis lines? I love my Industry5 cookware and don't want to add a piece that does not have the same features.
A shopper on Dec 5, 2012
BEST ANSWER: For world-class eggs Benedict and other brunch specialties, you need to start with superbly poached eggs. Using this peerless Demeyere poacher, you will get consistently great results. Includes four detachable nonstick eggcups. The sauté pan and its matching tempered glass lid can also be used without the stainless steel insert for sauces, vegetables, grains or melting butter.

This egg poacher is part of the Atlantis line and not the Industry 5 line. The only difference visually would really be that the handles are not textured. Functionally this egg poacher is far superior to any other I have seen. Industry 5 does not currently have an egg poacher in its line.
