Great Poacher
I bought an egg poacher from another source and the cups were plastic. It was virtually impossible to poach an eggs such that the white was cooked and the yoke still runny. This poacher has metal cups. Eggs cook quickly and beautifully. Everything about this poacher is quality, pan, top etc. It has been a real pleasure

Perfect poacher!
I generally shy away from single-use tools, but my other half loves poached eggs, and has tried many products over the years without success. We finally settled on this. The pan is beautiful and well-made. Everything fits together nicely and feels quality. Best of all, it works great! You may need to experiment a little to get the eggs just how you like them, but for us, using a hi-medium flame to cook, cooking for 4 1/2 minutes, and then allowing the egg cups to cool for about a minute before plating the eggs worked perfectly, and allowed us to skip greasing the egg cups. Will be enjoying this pan, and beautifully poached eggs for many years to come!

And, with the insert removed, this is a great tri-ply saucepan, by a great maker, at a great price. Can't beat this pan or its value

MADE IN INDONESIA?

Is this a misprint? All my other Demeyere does not say ""made in India"" they are made in Belgium and the Demeyere name is on both the pan and handle. Why is this different? Also, the construction. It says 5 layer. Does the 5 layer extend all the way up the side of the pan or does it only cover the bottom disc
A shopper on Feb 12, 2013
Best Answer: Yes, this egg poacher is made in Indonesia. It is part of the Resto line from Demeyere. Demeyere carries several different lines of cookware, all at different price points. This is a specialty piece from the Resto line, offered at a lower price point, and is made in Indonesia rather than Belgium. It still has the welded handles for hygiene and the 5 layers go all the way up the sides

Are the cups metal?

I have a poacher with plastic cups. It is very hard to cook the white at the bottom of the cup without overcooking the egg. Currently to come close to making it work, I need to put too much water in the pan and cook the eggs with the top off for about two minute
A shopper on Mar 11, 2013
Best Answer: yes, the cups are metal, non stick on the interior and beautiful stainless on the outside. I wiped the cups with a small amount of butter to coat the cups, and the eggs came out beautifully

To cook two eggs, shall I remove the other two cups from the pan, or leave all four cups in the pan?
Yvonne E on Sep 22, 2015
Best Answer: I really don;t think it makes a lick of difference. If you poach two eggs and leave the other two holes open, you will allow mor steam from the water below to accumulate on the lid of the pan and moisten the eggs you are poaching. Try it both ways and see what you like. I love my pan, use it often

What's the volume capacity of the cups?
A shopper on Aug 27, 2015
Best Answer: The cups will hold one large egg. Have never bought jumbo eggs and I think they would be too big for the cups. My daughter has added chopped ham and spinach to the egg cup with a regular sized egg. Hope this helps.

What is the exact material that the egg cups are made up of?
R K on Jan 3, 2016
Best Answer: Your answer can be found on the Demeyere inforamtion link under Technologies:

Excalibur® coating
The Excalibur non stick coating has very good non stick properties and is very strong. Excalibur is based on an additional hard layer of stainless steel between the stainless steel of the pan and the Teflon layer. It is much harder than the traditional non stick layers (based on an aluminium intermediate layer) but not suitable for the use of knife and fork. The four steps in the Excalibur coating process are:

1. The surface is roughened first to provide better adhesion of the other components of the coating process.

2. Then comes the most important part: glowing hot particles of a special stainless steel are sprayed over the rough surface.

3. The particles cool down, toughen and adhere to the surface. They form a series of “peaks and valleys” that are a permanent base for the non stick layer.

4. Different layers of hard fluorpolymers fill the valleys and cover the tops and are constantly kept in place by the special stainless steel “tops”.

Is this Part of the Industry5 or Atlantis line?

Is this related to the Industry5 or Atlantis lines? I love my Industry5 cookware and don't want to add a piece that does not have the same features.

This egg poacher is part of the Atlantis line and not the Industry 5 line. The only difference visually would really be that the handles are not textured. Functionally this egg poacher is far superior to any other I have seen. Industry 5 does not currently have an egg poacher in its line.
