This is the best garlic mincer I have tried - and I've tried a lot of them. It requires little effort to press the lid and mince garlic, there is a build in screen that pulls off of the top to clean between the squares for the easiest cleaning, there is a separate screen for slices, and an easy to remove reservoir to catch the garlic. I love, love, love this garlic mincer!!
I use a lot of garlic and have looked for an easier way to mince it. This gadget works really well! It has two ""blades""-- one for slicing, and the one I most frequently use--the mincing blade. After a firm press, the cup holds almost all of the garlic. Then simply pop out the blade and scrape off its backside to get every bit. it is easy to clean, a simple rinse, then place it on the top dishwasher rack or it's easily washed in the sink. Note:putting the clove in with the narrow edge toward the hinge works best. Reviewer who thought the pieces were large must have been using the slicing blade---which is conveniently stored on the bottom! This device's mincing blade minces garlic much smaller and certainly much easier than I could do with a knife. This is definitely a keeper
I love this concept. After some elbow grease the garlic comes out in beautiful minced pieces. Cleaning is a huge pain in the neck. The garlic gets stuck in the top mesh and it's extremely hard to get out. I find myself spending two minutes with a knife digging it out after each use. Maybe I'm missing some easy way to remove it? Yet, I keep using it
I love this little gadget. It works so easily and it's really easy to clean. Dices and slices the garlic perfectly with a minimum of effort. I did find, however, that the dice might not be as fine as I need for certain dishes. I found the solution...simply slice the clove first and then dice it and you'll get a perfect smaller dice. Highly recommend this especially if you need to dice a lot of garlic at once
I bought 2 of these. One for me & one for a gift in February for someone who has severe arthritis. Not sure going to give the gift. I have to SLAM the top down to crush the garlic, & also, I have to use my fingers or a knife to get the garlic out of the mesh. Not exactly what I expected
This is a very handy gadget especially when you need chopped garlic for multiple recipes. Clean up after use is very easy and all of the pieces store either in the top or bottom of this device. I love it!
This garlic press is a great time saver! Saves me a few minutes, and a lot of hassle every time I need to mince garlic. I haven't had any issues closing the device unless I put in a large clove of garlic, but that's a given. Dried garlic bits have gotten stuck in the bottom grate, but after a strong rinse and wash, it was good to do. The built in screen on top definitely makes cleaning a lot easier. Very easy to use! I'd say it was well worth the $12 I spent and definitely recommend it! Love this product!
This is the best garlic tool I've tried for the price. I also love the alternative slicing option. It's a very clever design and it works very well. It's rare to find such a useful kitchen tool at such a low price.
I'm not usually a gadget lover when a sharp knife will do the trick, but I LOVE this one. It create uniform small dice and perfect slices every time. Clean up is a cinch. Don't put it in the dishwasher, which I did and the plastic cup came in contact with the heating element and melted. It still works beautifully with out the catching cup. I'm purchasing 6 this year for stocking stuffers for both novices and semi-professional friends and relatives
This product is soooo aswesome! I love garlic, but, hate to dice or mince!! I used it for the first time tonight & I lOVE it!! It's so compact, dices garlic perfectly, has another screen for slicing, body compartment pops out. As much as I love it I was a little disappointed that the lid that punches the garlic through the screen was a little hard to clean. Then I realized there's an attachment that comes off so it's SUPER easy to clean--WOW great design, great value & great gadget!! I would HIGHLY recommend--I have every garlic tool there is and this is by far the best one! Thanks
I frequently cook with garlic and when needing to mince a bunch of cloves of garlic, I used to go to my trusty traditional garlic press. It worked great for getting the job done, but with arthritis in my hands now, it makes gripping the press difficult. I was so happy to get my Slice and Dice Garlic Press right before Thanksgiving! Lots of garlic processed, and pressing down was a whole lot easier than squeezing! I also love the hand little containment section so I can carry it right over to the pan or place the garlic needs to be. It's also a snap to clean and, with the citron green one that I chose, a color pop on my kitchen counter
The idea of this garlic press appealed to me especially since it was top staff rated. However, it is a pain to clean! I couldn't get all the bits of garlic out of the presser and it was difficult to get all the garlic out of the container. The pieces were also too big for my liking. I will be buying one of the more expensive/traditional presses
This garlic slicer/chopper is the best addition to my kitchen. I'm not a big garlic user------probably because I don't like smelling of garlic. With this gadget I can do all the garlic I need for a recipe and my hands don't smell. Bravissimo.
Yes, this thing looked perfect for SLICING vs dicing garlic. Fact is that the upper lid pressing surface is not formed in such a way that the part which presses down upon the slicing blades is formed so as to prevent creating of actual slices. Ok, so maybe you can live without the slivered sliced garlic you wanted but the fact is that the lid with its particular dicing format traps garlic at the base of its teeth and regardless the brush I used (and I used large and small bottle and other brushes), some of the garlic just stuck and stuck to the lid. Did not matter how many times I washed it, how long I soaked it, and what I did (even taking a nail file and trying to remove it), the design prevented spent garlic bits from being cleanly removed at all. I give up. For sliced garlic (I have tried a LOT of gadgets), the best result still comes from a good sharp knife deftly applied by hand. Whoever creates a genuinely good SLICING garlic gadget will make a mint. As of today, it still does not exist
Maybe it's the garlic. I really don't know but I have tried putting in small cloves in every possible position and I cannot get this gadget to chop garlic. Slice yes, chop no. Since I bought it to take the tedium out of chopping the large amounts of garlic I go through each week, this has turned out to be a very useless purchase. Too bad. I really wanted it to work
Love how this comes apart for cleaning, works well with a wooden mallet
Every bit of this comes apart for cleaning, the upper and lower grates, and the bowl pulls out. I didn't see this in the instructions, but was thrilled to discover it during cleanup. Suspect those who have complained about cleaning just haven't figured out how easy it is to pull apart yet. I bought this press because I have arthritis and it's hard to apply pressure. With this, I insert the garlic and cover the lid with a tea towel. A few taps with a wooden mallet and it's through. Really easy. Love this thing.
I've been in the market for a good garlic press after my last one bit the dust. I thought this one would be perfect and it works pretty well. I have only used the mince side so far, and the size the pieces come out is perfect. The only issue I have is that I can only do one clove at a time, otherwise the press becomes too hard to use and the garlic comes out the sides. As long as I only use one clove its great.
I thought I would see what it was like to try cutting small amounts of garlic for Thanksgiving with a little help and this was just the thing. Made the whole prep-process much easier. I love this little helper.
1. how thick are the garlic slices this press makes? e.g., 1/4 inch thick, etc.2. also, what are dimensions of the minced garlic pieces?Looks like a great product, but I need to know before purchasing - thank you

Best Answer:This garlic press makes slices that are 1/2"" by 1/6"", and minced pieces that are 1/6"" by 1/6""
Best Answer:I absolutely love this kitchen gadget! The dice is small enough to qualify as a mince; could always smash with the side of a knife after the dice. I wouldn't ever try grating garlic unless the clove is enormously large -- I am always nicking my fingers or nails. Hope this helps.
