Beautiful Teapot
I was looking everywhere to find a kettle NOT made in China and one that would last a very long time. This is the perfect kettle for me. It does not have an obnoxious whistle, so be mindful of the time it takes for your water to boil. It's pretty heavy, but that's to be expected of the material. Kettle stays warm enough to pour yourself that second cup of tea. Oh, and don't overfill the kettle or water will pour out the spout.

nothing else like it for Chai
Every morning I add a tea ball full of my homemade Chai to the kettle, steep it for about 6 minutes and keep it warm on the stove all day. Closest thing I have found for making Indian Chai tea. I have a Whistling pot for my Chinese tea and a different tea pot for my Chinese tea. This is great for making a pot of tea that you want to keep warm all day, it is perfect for Chai and will last.

Not good as just a tea pot, but great once your figure it out.
I have great tea kettles, a Simplex and a Michael Graves. I was looking for a new tea pot and came across the Staub. Now I was not clear if it was a tea pot or tea kettle. As a kettle I did not like that it did not whistle when boiling. But I loved the look as a tea pot so I got it with the intention to use it as a tea pot only. But after getting it I found it needs to be pre-heated to work out for you. The cast iron steals the heat from the tea if you use it as a pot without pre heating. So I was disappointed at first. Then I threw the thing on the gas burner with warmish tea in the pot and my mind changed. Once the tea was pipping hot it stayed hot for a very long time. I did need to use a trivit on my desk though. The unexpected aspect of this is the huge size of the opening at the top. This is more like a bean pot with a pour spout than a tea pot or even a tea kettle. It is so easy to clean! Also you don’t feel bad about throwing in an orange peel or cloves, or anything else you can think of to spice up your tea. So now I think of this as a combo kettle / pot without a whistle. For me, the handles worked out fine. I just put them in a 45-degree position while on the burner and they stayed cool enough for me to use without a hot pad. I have huge hands and some tea pot handles are small for me. Not this one. I also don't mind the heft of the thing because the weight balances with the overhead handles. Actually much easier to carry than the off balanced handle found on a common tea pot. For looks / cool factor, this is a wonderful, once in a lifetime purchase. Very nice for company as well. My grandparents had a pewter teapot they got as a wedding gift and used it every day of their lives together. The Staub has that kind of forever feel to it. I recommend it, but know what you are getting before you shell out the big bucks to buy it. The simplex copper tea kettle with its freight train whistle still sits on my stove though.

Beautiful tea kettle
I got this for my boyfriend as a gift because he had been eyeing it a while (and dropping lots of hints).

It has a beautiful and simple design- Japanese-inspired.

This kettle doesn't have a whistle, so it won't make noise to tell you the water is boiling.

The piece is very sturdy and heavy. The bottom is not rounded, but has a flat base the size of a small pancake. If your range grates are extra wide apart, this piece might not work, but it works perfectly on my gas burner grates.

I wish SLT carried more colors!

Very PROBLEMATIC design and functionality and Lid handle HEATS up & burns fingers.
Very dissatisfied with teapot!! When I opened package only to see a small size , 2 cup volume capacity teapot, that is so heavy for size, I wondered why the cost was so expensive. Beacause the shape of teapot is strange, if you fill water to the top, water will spill out of spout as you carry to stove. Spout design awkward angle! Handles on pot do not stay stationary and flip onto stove. The most PROBLEMATIC part of pot is the round metal handle on top of lid. This piece that lifts up the lid, HEATS to the hotness of the boiling water -OUCH!! We've burned out fingers everytime, so you need a pot holder handy. Everything about this teapot is impractical! For its VERY EXPENSIVE price, one would think teapot was lined with gold! Do not recommend unless you're into name brands and want to waste money on an item that only useful for a child to play and pretend.!

I recently purchased the 4 qt cooker from you with a coupon and love it with the brass rooster knob. I love it so much that I decided to get the kettle to match.
I'm hoping the brass knob accessory will fit this kettle. I haven't received an answer as of yet.

Appreciate Staub quality. A little worried about the "hot handle" comments but going to give it a try anyway.

Intrigued by the style. Reviews were generally very favorable. A bit concerned about the handle getting hot but not enough to dissuade my decision. Finding a teapot that is not made in China was definitely a plus!

I like to use a french press to make my coffee and like screaming hot water. My other tea kettle rusted thru because I used it so much (and made the mistake of leaving water inside.) This has just the right amount of capacity for my large french press. It is also looks beautiful sitting on my stove.

Gift for my staub loving boyfriend.
Chadwick R on Dec 6, 2015
I wanted a tea kettle that was resistant to rust! I was also looking for a kettle that would allow for some versatility i.e. steeping loose leaf tea, especially root herbs directly into the kettle it self. you can use the optional ss mess ball that comes w/kettle, or not, and then there's just the basics of boiling water, its your choice :). its a pot in the form of a tea kettle! what a great idea.
Chekesha J on Nov 7, 2015
I chose this teapot because of the positive reviews by other owners. I'm excited to try it out.

James L on Jan 25, 2015
I love the super high quality look of Staub products. The colors are rich and beautiful and made in France. I like that you can brew the tea in the pot, not just for boiling water. I was not really excited about the actual design of the kettle but the product reviews on Sur La Table and William Sonoma were all five star, while the other kettles had mixed reviews.

how many quarts?
A shopper on Dec 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: One quart
From the picture I can't see how you fill it with water. Where's the opening?
A shopper on Dec 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It couldn't be easier. You simply fold the two handles outward, take off the lid with the chrome knob, and fill the cavity with your liquid. As you can see from the photo, the top half of the spout is included as part of lid. But you will not have a problem with this once you have seen how nifty this design is.
How heavy is it?
A shopper on Oct 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It is heavy, but easy to carry because of the overhead design of the handles. Many tea pots have the handle off to one side and need to be carried with one hand on the spout and one hand on the handle. Not this one. Don't worry about the weight, the design takes care of this. Move the handles off to a 45 degree angle while on the stove and they stay cool enough to pick up without a pad. Hot, but not burn you hot.
how much water does it hold?
A shopper on Dec 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Approximately 20 oz. I normally fill it to the max and it's the perfect amount to make two large teas.
This staub teapot may be smaller compared to other teapots but I truly love it, the quality, the look.
If I purchase the 29.00 brass rooster knob, will it fit on this kettle?
A shopper on Nov 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it will.
