A Must Have
As a food stylist, I use so many different kitchen gadgets on a daily basis and very few impress me enough to want or need them in my personal kitchen... but this one is at the top of the list of must haves. Healthy, fast, and easy to use. I use this on a regular basis at home for delicious coconut shrimp, using absolutely no oil! Amazing! And it's great for little hand pies. I was skeptical when I came across this item, but it has proven itself to me and made me a believer. Things really do come out crispy, flaky, crunchy and delicious. Thumbs up all around!

Basket too small
We were hoping this product would be a healthy option to frying. Unfortunately, the basket is so small, you can only do 4 chicken wings at a time, and it took 20 minutes for each batch. We can do all in the wings in our convection oven in less time. Same thing happened with roasting vegetables. If you are using this for one person, it makes sense, but beyond that the capacity is too small. The wings and vegetables were OK, but nothing special....we were disappointed.

Fries and Wings all day
Super easy to use. Frozen fries turn out crispy, and use very little oil. Used with bitterman truffle salt and they were delicious! Also, I love the buffalo wing recipe that was in the cookbook. I did a version of buffalo cauliflower that was also easy and tasty. Can't wait to try out other different types of recipes!

A great product that I wish would work
When I first received mine, it worked and I LOVED it! Food tasted better than ever!! But within the first 30 days, the heating element quit working. So, I took it to the store to have it replaced. The first time I used the replacement, the heating element blew up. I was so very disappointed. Great product if only it lasted more than a month.

Not what I had hoped it would do.
I tried the zucchini recipe 3 times and each time the zucchini just came out limp and half-cooked. I had hoped this product would perform as stated, but it was a disappointment. It did cook the salmon and shrimp as shown, but when I tried the sweet potatoes they came out limp. I would not recommend this product. I have a deep fryer and it does not use much oil. I would rather enjoy my food than settle for the quality this machine produces.

Reasonably priced and versatile
There are certain "rules" to air frying. The pamphlet included in the box is pretty vague, but if you do a little research you can master the art. It's apparently really popular in Hong Kong and there are a lot of blogs with recipes out there. I love the price- it's half the price of a comparable unit on the market and from what I can tell performs just as efficiently. I've had mine for a few weeks now and I use it consistently. It's fantastic for frozen prepared foods, but we use it for homemade potato fries a lot. They are great with everything, even dressed up with some toppings as a meal on their own. My significant other scoffed at my new purchase- but even he admits it's pretty nifty! When I saw it in the Sur La Table circular I knew I had to have it- while all the other catalogs get tossed in the trash, Sur La Table is studied!

Great product and a welcome addition to my kitchen!
I have been looking at and researching air fryers for some time now. Wanted a healthy alternative to frying. This is it. It is very easy to do. Extremely easy to clean. The results when cooking are wonderful. Potatoes are fantastic! We were also impressed with the quality of taste when cooking meat. This was also a good buy. I have used it several times in the time we have had it and I haven't found one thing to put in the "con" column. Very happy I purchased this. Another side benefit, it easily fit into my cupboard and doesn't take up much room.

Didn't cook food the second time around
The first time I made pork chops it cooked great. Then I put in another batch and after 20 mins it looked like I just put them in there.

This kitchen helper is the answer!
...to making hot, fried foods that I have never been able to make because of the challenges with frying at home. The oil is messy, smelly, dangerous, the temperature is a challenge to maintain and when you're done cooking, getting rid of all that oil is a problem. The HealthyFry eliminates all of this and the best part is we get our favorites sans the guilt that comes with eating said foods! I've made frozen snacks, entrees, savory hand pies, baked eggs and more in this little kitchen helper. Treat yourself or make this the easy go to gift for anyone or any family on your list.
I recommend this

Convenient and easy to clean
I've had my air fryer for a few weeks now. I have used it to make perfect crispy moist chicken in just 22 minutes or less and crispy vege's (Asparagus, Green Beans, and Mushrooms so far) in about 12-15 minutes. I'm loving it! I did a bake off doing 4 pc chicken in the oven and 4 pc chicken in the air fryer (all prepared the same), the air fryer chicken was done in less time, had a crispier skin, and was more appealing. The oven baked was of course sitting in its own grease and thus was not crispy on the bottom, where as the air fried was crispy all around. In general finding the food cooked in the air fryer is less greasy/oily than baked since the excess drips off the food into the bin.

Clean up is easy, just rinse and wipe out the basket with a soft sponge with a dab of soap. The basket has also been through the dishwasher to sanitize. Very convenient.

I've also used it to reheat meatballs and it worked great.

I am eager to see how it does with making vege chips, that will be the next test.

How does this compare to the Philips Air Fryer?
rhoda m on Aug 9, 2015
What is the quart capacity?
A shopper on Jul 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: 3 quart
We just bought one and some of the recipes say you need to preheat it. But if you need to remove the basket and the pan it sits in to add food while it's "preheating," wouldn't the heat simply escape via the opening where the pan is inserted? It seems like it would be like preheating a conventional oven with the oven door open. Also, how do you know when it's ready? Conventional ovens make a beeping noise, for example, when preheating is finished. Thanks.
Michael F on Aug 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I preheated with the basket in the appliance. It makes a dinging noise once the time that you've entered is complete.
How much does it fry at one time?
A shopper on Aug 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Depending on the size & shape of what you're frying, it'll hold between half a pound & 2 lbs.
Can this be used to make donuts and other fried pastries?
A shopper on Aug 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Recipe book is approx 20 pages and (1) recipe is for Summer Strawberry Hand Pie. I would defer to the manufacturer or your local Sur La Table for other items in question.
How much oil do you use?
A shopper on Aug 8, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I personally didn't use any oil in the recipes I made...coconut shrimp, apple turnovers, etc... The one recipe I did try oil for was sweet potato fries and then I made a second batch without oil and they were much better.
How do people rate the results?
A shopper on Aug 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: People typically describe air fried food as crispy, but quite as good as deep fried food.
Can you place frozen foods in this?
A shopper on Jul 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes we have made frozen fries, frozen chicken sticks and frozen chicken nuggets.
How many watts?
A shopper on Aug 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Specs: 120V-60HZ, 1350W
Can battered foods be fried in this?
A shopper on Aug 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, they can.
What are the dimensions?
A shopper on Jul 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Removable fryer basket is 3" in depth and 7"X7" in length/width. Fryer basket is inside the pull out pan which holds the fryer basket is 4.5" in depth and approx 7.75" by 7.75" in length/width.
where can I purchase the separator mentioned in the booklet?
A shopper on Sep 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The separator mentioned in the book was mistakenly left out of the first production of these fryers. If you did not receive one, please contact Customer Service so we can arrange to have one sent out to you.
Instructions reference a separator and a baking tray, which I assume are accessories. How do I obtain these? They're not offered on your site.
Judith K on Aug 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: We don't have it available at this time, but it will be in the near future.
Does it do a good job frying chicken pieces larger than wings?
A shopper on Aug 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: To me it was ok, but not your traditional fried chicken. Wouldn't do it twice. It works great for fish.
How to fix? First time using machine. It was working GREAT!!! Then, I was cooking tater tots and the fan stopped working. I've let it cool down for 1 1/2 hour, still fan doesn't work. Machine lights up but is not cooking. Any suggestions or perhaps I have a bad machine. I was so excited that I even had the strawberry pies ready to cook up for dessert.
Darcie P on Aug 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I suggest returning it for a replacement.
Does this fry battered foods?
Laurie M on Aug 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have had this "fryer" for a few months now and use it at least once a week. I purchased it because it "fries" foods with less oil. There is no oil in the fryer itself. You simply coat your food and place it in the basket to cook. You can also use it to bake small items. This product is well worth the money, and is actually rated higher than, and is less expensive than other models.
How do you clean this device?
A shopper on Aug 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I simply rinsed and washed the basket in the sink and wiped out the bottom tray with a damp sponge.
found the booklet to be very vague, recipe book mentioned preheating the fryer...how do you do that? The zucchini fries were a disaster, yuck
Jaclyn J on Sep 14, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have only done French fries which were quite good. When I do zucchini sticks, I will cut them pretty thin as squash tends to be so watery. I think that characteristic might affect their ability to crisp. And I preheated it by just starting it before I put the potatoes in.
how long does it take to cook french fries?
Carlos G on Aug 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The recipe book that accompanies the unit gives times. It depends upon the kind of potato and how skinny the pieces are. I found that 25 min. was needed for fries that I cut from a raw potato.
Where is this made from?
AVA JEAN B on Aug 26, 2015
BEST ANSWER: After looking at my unit, the "made in" stamp cannot be found, either on unit or in instruction book.
The Instruction manual references two things I don't understand- It identifies a "safety cover"- what is that? There is also mention of a separator for the basket so you can cook two similar things at once. Please explain what these two items are... I don't see them in the box or as part of the machine.
Lynette E on Oct 3, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I believe the safety cover issue on page 5, is a typo. If you look at page one, the safety cover and the pan are one in the same. What they were referring to was illustration 6 on page 3. I also did not receive a separator with my air fryer.
Is it possible to "fry" chicken in it?
Rebecca A B on Aug 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: sort of -- it doesn't really 'fry' anything. use the convection setting on your oven for the same results
Dimensions of cooking basket?
A shopper on Aug 10, 2015
BEST ANSWER: 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" x 3 1/2"
Does it leave a grease odor in your home like a traditional fryer does?
Maria M on Oct 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No, Maria, we haven't experienced a greasy odor. The reason is that there is very little oil used when preparing the food. We use it most often for "french fries" that are cut from fresh potatoes, soaked in water and dried with a towel. We then use 1 or 2 TBSP oil with seasonings, shake off excess oil before placing in the fryer. Yummy! I wash the basket in soapy water and wipe out the bottom of the fryer with a wet sponge or paper towel. No smells!! We have used it for frozen onion rings and hot dogs. We LOVE this product!
the basket is very small is there a similar product with a bigger basket?
A shopper on Oct 7, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have no idea if there is a product with a bigger basket. We still aren't sure if we really like the product and wish we could find more recipes. Do you like yours? Do you have any good recipe ideas? Thank you
How would you describe the noise level when operating this machine?
Anne H on Aug 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This past week was the first time that I have been able to use the machine a couple of times. I find the noise level normal since the fan has to run all the time while the machine is on. I am an experience hobby cook and use lots of gadgets for cooking.
How easy is this to clean?
Nan K on Aug 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Very easy to clean. Use a gentle sponge and mild soap to wash down the fryer. Do not use anything abrasive for it will scratch the fryer basket coating.
How much oil to fry one serving of french fries? Is this really sized to provide a single serving?
A shopper on Aug 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Recipe for Southern Sweet Potato Fries lists: 1 1/4 lbs of sweet potato cut into small fries and 1/4" cup of olive oil.
How long of warranty does this have?
Greta K on Sep 15, 2015
BEST ANSWER: 12 months
can this be used for batter dipped foods?
Christine M on Aug 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes it can.
