How heavy is the fork?
A shopper on Dec 13, 2014
Best Answer: I just bought it for a prop, so without actually weighing it, I can say it seems to be a fairly standard weight, about the same as an antique fork that I have. It feels lighter than the Maison fork, which I also bought, and don't like as much (it looks cheaper). If you want to know whether it seems substantial or cheap/flimsy, it's more substantial without being heavy. However, the finish on the tines seems sort of flat or slightly discolored in places, almost like a film or water spots that don't rub off; not sure if I just got a dud though. Keep in mind it was made in India (like the Maison fork), and if you've ever bought brass or metal worked goods from India, they have that sort of rough, handcrafted look, so I'm sure there are some slight variations among individual forks. The photo makes it look like bright shiny silver, and it IS lighter in color than my everyday old Oneida forks, but it's not quite as pristine-looking as the photo. I kind of got off-topic there, but hope it helps! ;)
