I saw this at the store and it was a great size for a smaller bouquet...at a reasonable price. The roses looked lovely in it. A few days later, I tossed the roses and when I washed the vase, all the silver came right off. I see now that it says wipe clean. This is not mentioned in the display. So, not only wipe clean, no water whatsoever or you will end up with a clear vase...
I have seen these exact pieces for 3 and 4 times the price...at very "High End " retailers. The pieces are gorgeous and worth every penny. No, you can't scour out the inside...I learned this on other mercury glass pieces...I generally use them with tiny wired lights inside..on a buffet or table...anyway....WAY cheaper than anywhere else!!! Love them....
I am going to use these for votive candles for a wedding reception table - using in combination with the fluted glass candleholder and the glass candleholder with etched flowers. Won't that be a lovely combination!
Can you use these as vases? It says in the description they are suitable for holiday floral arrangements, does that mean they're okay with water? Also, if you treat it with a sealant spray (such as a clear acrylic), will this make it work as a vase?
Best Answer:I used these pieces as vases without a problem. I encourage you to inspect the finish on each piece before use as the silver can flake and peel. Many of the pieces I ordered (1 out of 3) had a finish that bubbled and peeled away when I took them out of the box.
