Easy-to-use Cookie Press
Unlike 3 other cookie presses that I have owned, this cookie press surpasses them all with its ease of use. I've made 9 batches of cookies, so far, using the butter spritz cookie recipe that was included with the press. I've used a flower disk from the original cookie press, followed by the pumpkin, spider, spider web, and leaf disks from the Autumn disk set. All came out perfectly. I do recommend increasing the extract in the recipe. I added almond extract to the vanilla extract in the recipe. I also used orange extract plus grated orange rind, instead of the vanilla and/or almond extract/s. I've tinted both the icing and the dough to make Halloween cookies.
The cookie press did not tire my hand, and as long as I allowed the cookie a second to adhere to the cookie sheet, each cookie came out cleanly. Each batch of the recipe made approximately 142-163 cookies, depending on which disk was used. The press was easy to take apart and clean when I was finished.
I am looking forward to making lots of Christmas cookies using this cookie press. I am hoping that other ""seasonal"" cookie disks will be made available, following the Autumn disk set, although the original set that comes with the press has plenty of shapes, ie. a pine tree, a wreath, a snowflake, etc. that can be used for holiday cookies. I also would love it if another cookie dough tube would become available so that making different colored cookies with different colored doughs could be used without having to wash the one tube, first, before switching colors. I have discovered, however, that multi-colored swirly cookies can be made easily by adding balls of different colored, left-over dough to the cookie tube. Cookies, such as fall leaves, came out looking so pretty with orange and yellow, and sometimes red all in the same leaf.
I have already bought a second cookie press, plus the Autumn disk set for my daughter, who is also enjoying using it. She made batches of spiders, webs, and leaves for her daughter's school class, and as a treat for her fellow office-mates.
I am planning on buying a second cookie press for myself. I will then be able to double the amount of cookies I can make, using more than one color of dough, without waiting to totally use up one color of dough first.
I highly recommend this cookie press to anyone who enjoys making a variety of cookies. It also is a great way to enjoyably pass the time by sharing cookie-making with children and grandchildren

"So easy, the kids can do it!"
I used to have an all-metal Swedish-made cookie press that made beautiful cookies, but had a trigger-style mechanism that required a fair bit of hand strength. As I have arthritis, I was looking for an easier solution to holiday cookies. Enter the OXO Good Grips Cookie Press. Like OXO's other products, these are designed to be user-friendly for those with arthritis by featuring easy-to-use mechanisms and nonslip grips. You change out the included disks by twisting off the bottom of the barrel, dropping the new disk in, and reattaching. Once you've filled the barrel with (room-temperature) dough, you simply press down on the handle once, lift, and repeat. There are twelve designs included; I tried six of them with good results (teddy bear, wreath, daisy, sunflower, fleur-de-lis, shell). Some of the designs like the bear and butterfly have a lot of small, breakable parts; to remove these from the cookie sheets, I found it easiest to press gently on the widest part rather than try and lift them with a spatula. They came loose easily that way without breaking.

The clearly-illustrated booklet also features three starter recipes: cream cheese spritz dough, butter dough (with a lemon poppyseed variation), and chocolate shortbread. I tried the chocolate shortbread and lemon poppyseed, and would make them both again (see photos above). I also want to try making cheese straws and savory recipes with this. As long as it's a soft dough (the book even mentions that refrigerated doughs are not recommended), I'm guessing it will work with this press.

A few tips that may help:
*Make sure that you press the dough firmly into the barrel as you fill it to avoid air pockets.
*Use a cool, ungreased cookie sheet. If rotating out sheets, make sure it is cool before adding new cookies.
*You can switch the disks midway through a batch of dough if so desired; simply unscrew the bottom of the barrel, slide the disk off the barrel (instead of pulling it up so dough is attached), replace with new disk, and run a little dough through until it comes out evenly. I got four designs from a half-batch of dough this way.
*Because the cookies don't spread / puff up much during baking, you can put them close together to maximize space.

I loved the idea of the vented storage case with slots so the disks stay upright, but the thin plastic hinges feel like they might break sooner rather than later. I also wish that an optional larger disk storage case was available, as OXO currently sells two additional disk sets for spring and fall, and these sets do not come with storage cases of their own. The press itself is very sturdy, with a nonslip bottom and a nonslip handle / plunger.

Overall, the OXO Good Grips Cookie Press is an item that I plan on using frequently year-round. It's so easy to use that kids can help out as well

Delightful Dispenser
I am not the best at rolling cookies but this product make lovely cookies without strsesing me out. I made whole wheat spritz cookies from the Paper, ribbon & Ink recipe and they were great. I dispensed the cookies onto parchment paper which made for quick rotations of my cooke sheets without having to wash between. I used the Christmas tree & snowflake discs, but am looking forward to the Fleur de lis and heart products early next year. Buy this product

Sent this to my adult daughter for her new apartment so she could bake grandma's spritz cookies. She used it once and it broke!!!!!
