Questions & Answers
The Bonavita 8 cup thermal coffee maker does not have a programable feature...but it really makes great coffee! I just get it ready before I go to bed and all my husband has to do in the a.m. Is push the "on" button and in truly just about 3 minutes it is ready! The glass lined thermal carafe keeps the coffee super hot for several hours without changing the taste. I'm picky about coffee and this one is fantastic!!!
Moccamaster makes its own filters which are a bit nicer but just the same and more expensive. Hope it helps
I agree that the shower head seems to be too narrow to disperse water over the full circumference of the coffee/filter below. However, I have used this for almost a year and I find that the process does work because the water enters the basket at a higher rate than it exits. So all the grounds end up soaked and the resulting coffee is well extracted.
If yours is in fact leaving dry, unsaturated grounds, product defect aside, I can only suggest maybe you are using too much coffee for the water quantity or using a grind that is too coarse. For comparison, I generally use 60g coffee for 1L water and I use a medium, drip-range, grind (about a 35 on my Breville Smart Pro).
Replacement carafes are available, but pricey. We solved the problem by purchasing a well-insulated carafe, and simply transfer the fresh coffee. A little frustrating for a > $300 machine, but it works.
