We have had this coffee maker for about a month, we just love it. We have had to adjust the amount and grind of coffee to fit our taste. But it brews one awesome cup of coffee, and keeps it just the right temperature for the next cup. My wife's only wish is that it had a timer, but she has gotten past being upset with me after having the coffee and seeing why it's not good to pre-make it the night before. We highly recommend this maker
We have had our Coffee Maker for over a year and absolutely love it. The pot brews quickly and quietly. It has an automatic shut off if you forget to manually turn the pot off. I chose the glass Carafe because I could easily see whether I needed to make more coffee. I realize it's a little pricey, but worth every cent.
I have had this Coffe Maker for 4 or 5 years, making one, sometimes two pots of coffee each and every day. This machine still makes a pot of coffee every bit as good as the first one years ago. The design is simple and all the materials are of high quality. I chose the glass carafe because I had been in the habit of immediately pouring the freshly brewed pot into a thermos bottle to enjoy all day long.
I ordered this coffee maker based on the many good reviews and SCAA certification but received the unit with one of the plastic tabs broken that hold the filter basket. Thinking that it was just an odd occurrence, I requested a replacement only to receive it with the very same plastic part snapped off. Very disappointed.
Based on a friend's recommendation, along with a general respect for European craftsmanship, I decided that it was time to buy a Moccamaster, and I'm very glad that I did. Not only does it make wonderful coffee, but the clean lines of the design are very attractive. I hope that it will last for a LONG time!
I've been researching coffee makers for the past few weeks--ever since my beloved Bunn coffee maker stopped working properly. This machine has consistently received the best reviews, and before purchasing on Amazon I noticed the Sur la talble President's Day sale via RetailMeNot.
I've decided to purchase the Technivorm coffee maker based on the reviews and the quality of the construction. This coffee maker is made in Europe, has a brass heating component and a 5 year warranty, the longest of them all. The other brand I was considering was Bonavita, their new model 1900ST, but one of the Youtube based reviews did show that the Bonavita, made in China, had issues with properly running water through all the holes which made me think back about the quality of the product.
My friend had one and the coffee she served was great! I heard it was the only coffee maker with glass and copper pipes instead of the common plastic and aluminum, and that it heated the water to the right temp before contact with the beans in order to get a good cup of coffee.
I am placing my trust into the quality control of Technivorm. It is very difficult to find a coffee maker that keeps the brewing water at the recommended temperatur. Still used pour over brewing method by hand to get a good cup of coffee.
I really wanted the Bonavita, but virtually impossible to find anywhere! So I opted for the Technivorm which should be a better unit anyway based on the reviews and research. And I could not find it cheaper anywhere (20% off). I can't wait to get it!
I tried coffee made with this maker at a friend's house a couple of days ago and thought the coffee was unusually good. I asked what kind of coffee she used before I realized what kind of maker she had. After investigating the maker, I realized it probably had as much, or more to do with why the cup was so good.
Best rated coffee maker by Cooks Illustrated. Hand made In Sweden not China. five year warranty. Brew's best tasting coffee according to 100's of people I've talked with. Sur La Table discount price Is unheard of anywhere for this unit! Retail $280-300.00 but I purchased today for 20% off w/free shipping!
I've purchased at least 5 coffee makers in the last 3 years - all fancy brands, but underneath, all the same Chinese-made JUNK. Each one has fallen apart in record time. Hoping a well-made European machine will last a little longer. Wish me luck.
1. The glass carafe lets me see at a glance how much coffee is left. 2. It's recommended to preheat the thermal carafe with hot water before brewing. I don't want the hassle; or wasted water and energy.
Why does the glass carafe rate higher than the thermal and it's cheaper?

Best Answer:With other brands I have read reliability issues with the carafe, plus heat increases oxidation, so after it's brewed I turn the power off (this does have a safety shut-off) and take the carafe off the plate. I think the coffee is more drinkable longer this way, your mileage may vary.
As the reviewer on March 5, 2015 remarks, there are two plastic bits that hold the filter basket in place and these are prone to breakage. Like that reviewer, I ordered this model online (from a different vendor) and received it with one of those plastic tabs broken off. This renders the machine inoperable and unstable.
Best Answer:I ordered one from Sur La Table and did not have that problem. That part seems very sturdy to me. If you ordered it from another vendor, I wonder if you got the exact same model or else maybe it was not packed well. Does it have the straight sided carafe? There is a slight difference between two models that I think have a similar model #. I would also mention that another reviewer ( not sure if it's on this site) mentioned that the coffee maker is flimsy and like a mouse trap game, but I think what they don't understand is that there are many more detachable parts than a standard drip coffee maker in order for the coffee maker to be cleaned more easily. It's Technivorm's philosophy ( stated in the manual) that a clean coffee maker makes better coffee. And it's my experience that it does.
I hope you can resolve it. I rarely write reviews let alone comment on them...I just got an email from Sur La Table asking if I would respond to your question since I just bought mine about a month or two ago. It really does make good coffee - smooth is how I would describe it, without the bitterness.
In our search for a coffee maker, we ordered two technivorm machines and tested them out (one was this glass carafe model and the other a stainless carafe without the auto stop feature during brew cycle from another retailer). Both machines were excellent and in full working order- nothing broken or damaged. We LOVE our coffee maker and I spread the word whenever the subject of coffee comes up. Hope that is of some use...no regrets here.
Haven't had this problem, but we did have a faulty switch and returned the machine to a nearby Sur la table store with our online order receipt and received a replacement. The manufacturer did not offer to replace the machine when called, but told me to return it to Sur la table, where we bought it. Maybe a little better quality control is in order at Moccamaster?
I purchased this model through Sur La Table in January of this year and have been very pleased with its construction. I have had no problem with the plastic tabs or any other part or parts. The tabs seem pretty robust to me, but I will keep any eye out just in case. I love the Moccamaster by the way, best cup of coffee I've ever had.
Can you brew only 1 or 2 cups of coffee at a time ?

Best Answer:Brewing a smaller quantity of coffee with the Mochamaster is not a problem. My only wish is that the carafe needs to be of 12 cup capacity for company. In all though, the product has been great.
Yes you can. The scoop for the coffee is for two cups and the reservoir is marked in two cup increments. Other wise you have to do some guessing to hit the prime numbers. I have done and it tastes fine.
