HandCrafted Three virtues in Japanese, santoku describes the strengths this knife demonstrates in the kitchen. Sharp, durable and corrosion resistant, the handmade Shun Classic santoku is designed for cutting vegetables, thin-boned meats and fish. The slight curve is ideal for creating a rocking motion when cutting.

Great knife!
I have owned and used all the German made professional grade cutlery for over 30 years. This is my first Japanese style or fabricated knife and I now regret every piece of Solingen steel I have every purchased. The price point on this blade was not only competitive but it was great. The fit and finish is without equal and it simply just feels ""right"" in my hand. Perfect balance and weight, and the fine wood handle is a pleasure to hold. I will add a 10"" chefs and a paring knife from the same product line, and all the essentials of my kitchen will be covered. I highly recommend this product

My Favorite Knife
This was the second in my ""good"" knife collection that I started 3 years ago and it is still my favorite. I've only bought Shun since because their blades are amazing. I have sizes ranging from 3.5"" to 8"" and this is my most used because it is so easy. For almost everything, this works flawlessly.

It is my oldest Shun and the blade does have some tiny, tiny chips in it. When I send it in for free sharpening, they will be removed and I'll be totally blown away again.

Even with the pitting on the blade etch, this thing glides through veggies or whatever. I do hone it every other week or so. You are going to want to get a honer to keep you good knife well maintained.

I would buy this again and I recommend this to everyone starting their good knife collection
