does the job
I bought this magnetic knife bar to keep sharp knives out of kids range and out of drawers where I might ""root around"" and hurt myself. It does the job at a reasonable's a good strong magnet, although the installation instructions are a little dicey and you should really think it all through before starting to install it

Bar flexes unacceptably when placing or removing a knife
The mounting plates are made of plastic and each one is held to the wall with a single screw. You install one mounting plate, slide the end of the bar onto it, then slide the other mounting plate into the opposite end of the bar and between the screw and the wall. The problem is that you cannot tighten the screw enough to hold the bar tightly against the wall because the mounting plate has to have enough room the slide behind the screw. The bar then flexes back and forth everytime you take or return a knife. It looks and feels cheap.

Solid product
Like everything Wusthof makes, this is a solid product. It held my entire set securely for years before I upgraded to a larget set of magnetic rails. This looked a little utilitarian, and the surface was uneven, which made it slightly difficult to clean, but overall it's a great item at a great price. And it has a definite wow factor when people see it. Easy way to make your kitchen look professional, and an easy way to instantly find the knife you need

A Must-Have for All Your Magenetic Tools
I bought the 20"" bar thinking I'd someday expand my collection of knives to fill it. Mounting it was a breeze with the included anchors and screws. Now I use it not only for my kitchen knives, but also my scissors, bottle opener, and any other tools that will stick!

The magnet is strong and the surface smooth. A magnet holder is a classy must-have for your kitchen, and this is the best one SLT offers

I was apprehensive about the fastener system
We've been using our knife rack for a month now, and it works just fine.
I was initially reluctant to drill through our tile backsplash, because the way that the rack is fastened to the wall is a bit uncommon. One mounts these plastic blocks, then snaps the aluminum frame over the blocks. I didn't know if I could trust those little blocks, but it worked fine

How does this mount?

There's no information on mounting, is it double sided adhesive tape or does it use mounting screws
A shopper on Dec 5, 2011
Best Answer: It mounts with screws that hold brackets that fit into the ends of the bar. Included are the drywall screw holders (I don't know the correct term for them) to mount the bar into drywall. It's a bit tricky and you need to figure it out before you start making holes in your wall, but once it's done, it's very secure

How far does the knife block stick out from the wall? I'm trying to figure out if I have enough clearance where a backsplash ends.
A shopper on May 19, 2013
Best Answer: This bar sticks out 3/4"" from the wall

How many knives, more or less, does the 14" hold?
A shopper on Aug 11, 2015
Best Answer: I have 7 knives on my magnet. One is a large chef knife,, 3 are 8" prep knives, one a cheese knife, one a slicing knife and one is a large (14") carving knife. I love my magnet, keeps one drawer less messy, protects the knives and makes me look like I know what i'm doing!!

I have 2 Miyabi birch wood handle knives and am going to purchase more, however; I need a secure way to store them, but with easy access. I think the magnetic strip would be the answer but am not sure. Is this the best solution? And if yes, which one? Is the full metal strip more secure? Is the wood design created.for a higher level of protection? Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
Bonnie B on Jan 9, 2016
Best Answer: Hi Bonnie,
I love the magnetic strip holders and it is the only way I would store cutting knives in the future. It is easy access and you can grab the knife you need right away. I have both wood and metal. The issue with wood is that over time it gets rather worn, so it is up to you if that would bother you.

Hope that is helpful!
