"Crispy, Hot Pizza in about Five Minutes"
My husband and I bought this oven after seeing another similar one advertised for $150 more on a Groupon. We compared the two and decided that the features of the other one didn't justify the cost.

I travel to Italy regularly and generally refuse to eat Pizza in the US, especially takeout. Even the best pizza transported in a cardboard box gets soggy and begins to taste like cardboard. It can't be helped. We used to make our pizza on the grill, but that became a hassle.

That brings us to the Pizzeria Pronto. There is always a bit of a learning curve with a new gadget. We made our first pizzas from Trader Joe's dough. They crisped up nicely in about 5 minutes and tasted OK. The packaged dough balls were a little hard to handle (they lose some elasticity), but the oven performed well, so we decided to keep it.

We made a batch of dough for our second round of pizzas. The recipe specifically said to let it ferment in the fridge overnight. We didn't think it would be *that* important, so we made two pizzas that same day and saved two dough balls in the fridge as recommended.

The pizza didn't seem to brown up as nicely, and the thermometer was only reading about 650 degrees, so we called the manufacturer. We didn't really pay as much attention to the temperature the first time, as the pizzas were coming out just fine.

The project lead spoke with my husband at length, trying to troubleshoot possible solutions. The company has upgraded the thermometer for accuracy, so they sent us one that was easily installed in about 5 minutes.

We made pizza last night again with dough that was properly fermented. I noticed three things. First, the new (calibrated) thermometer was reading at more than 800 degrees. Second, the dough crisped up perfectly. The pizza was done to perfection in about 5 minutes (we like ours a little extra crispy, so we gave it 6 minutes). Third, the dough that was fermented in the fridge TASTED better because the yeast had more time to develop.

Our friends, who also lived in Italy for an extended period of time, couldn't believe that we were able to make a PIZZERIA QUALITY pizza in our back yard. They're going to buy one!!!

I've learned a few lessons with this -

1. Follow the recipe for the dough. It does matter. Even the fermentation phase.

2. Follow the example of Italians when making pizza - less is more. Don't overload your pizza with too much stuff. It will end up soggy. It's just a function of the ingredients.

3. If you're making your own dough, use bread flour, not all purpose. There's a difference. Really. The consistency of the dough will be much better with bread flour.

4. MAKE SURE TO USE ENOUGH CORNMEAL ON YOUR PEEL. This is crucial. If you don't, you'll never slide the pizza off into the oven.

Finally, I would like to say that the company that makes this product is GREAT. They do stand behind their product and the product manager cares very much that you have great results. He offered to send us a new oven in exchange if this one really had a flaw. I personally believe that the flaw was in my dough that one time. Nonetheless, they were great, and I would recommend any of their products just because they do stand behind them.

The picture I've added is of one of our ""not so successful"" attempts. Still looks pretty darn good! The arugula was added after cooking, as they do in Italian pizzerias

Amazing pizza in 5 minutes flat!
This oven will produce some of the best pizza you can possibly make at home!

Heats up quick, runs on the same propane tank that's already hooked up to my grill, and once it's ready, pizzas are done in literally 5 minutes.

The crusts come out super crispy and the toppings aren't soggy like you sometimes get in your indoor oven due to moisture content in the ingredients. You do have to rotate the pizza halfway through to make sure it is browning evenly, but since the whole process only takes 5 minutes, you really don't want to walk away while it's cooking anyway.

The oven doesn't get overly hot on the outside so you don't have to worry about scorching your table. Love the compact size, which makes it easier to store than a full-size grill and you could even take it camping or tailgating easily with a smaller size propane tank and the adaptor.

This is also a much better price than most outdoor ovens which can range in the thousands - of dollars and pounds! Highly recommend for even the amateur pizza chef

best pizza at home
This is the first time I've ever written a review, I felt I had to, this pizza oven is that good. I've tried everything to make crispy, delicious pizza at home, and to be honest, I've achieved it a few times, but it's been a LOT of work and my house gets SO hot...
I'm so glad I tried this, at this price point, I can't believe how well it works. It made our pizzas perfectly in about five to six minutes. Hot, bubbly, crispy and no mushy parts. All I had to do was preheat and turn the pizza halfway through. That was it, so easy.

Better Than Every Other Home Method I've Tried
I like pizza. A lot. For the last five years, it''s been a bit of an obsession with me. I've tried every dough formula (all of the Reinhardt's, traditional bigas, Batali's grill dough, etc), and tried every permutation of quarry stone, baking stone, grill, grill stone, baking steel, etc. imaginable trying to get my oven or my grill to make a perfect pizza. And while I've made some good pies, this little machine beat them all with the first pizza I made.

Using the included dough recipe (a ridiculously simple Tipo 00 with an overnight rise in the fridge), I got some amazing results. Perfect hint of char on the bottom, perfect blisters on top, and as even of a cook as I ever got out of my stove. The crust had a crisp crunch and a perfect chew, and held the toppings of all four pizzas I made the first night very well. The wife and kids (and the neighbor who stopped by) all agreed it was the absolute best they'd had.

As far as the equipment, it assembled quickly and easily - 10 minutes plus another 5 to set it up outside and check the hose connections for leaks (I'm a safety freak). I was amazed at how little ambient heat radiated from the bottom of the unit - I wouldn't worry at all about having this on a outdoor patio table. It took about 20 minutes to reach 625 or 650 on the thermometer, and I baked 4 10 to 12 inch pizzas in rather rapid succession with no degradation in quality.

I'm looking forward to experimenting with this over the coming months (including during the cold winter months, when I worry about how it will maintain heat even when used in the garage) ... but so far, so good. This is looking like one of the best birthday presents I've ever received

This oven lives up to its promise
I just purchased the Pizzeria Pronto and tried it out for the first time. I was skeptical that this oven could live up to the promise, but it did! I cooked three pizzas for my family right off the bat and each one not only tasted great, but also had a great texture. It is definitely worth the money. I look forward to future pizza parties

Friday Nights have been changed forever!
Our family has been making pizza every Friday night for the past 25+ years. Buying pizzas became too expensive and making pizza at home was a fun alternative. However, we were always either blasting the kitchen oven for hours or slaving over the BBQ, wasting time and energy waiting for a pizza that was usually burnt on the bottom and still not cooked on top.

The Pizzeria Pronto has seriously been LIFE CHANGING! The Pronto is fired up, HOT in less than 10 minutes and cooks pizzas TO ORDER in 5 minutes or less. Beautifully crisp on the bottom, toppings and cheese bubbly and still a perfect chew in the middle! In between pizzas, very little heat off the stone is lost so the next pizza is just as good as the first...every time!

There certainly is a learning curve on this device as with any new kitchen appliance or toy. For example, the temperature of the stone depends on the weather, so you have to plan accordingly. The next evolution should come with a few more tips for use, some suggestions for people new to pizza making as well as the perfect paddle for this size stone.

I see many more Friday Night Pizza Nights in our future!!

Molto bene!
While I'm in the process of building a wood burning pizza oven, I wanted something to tide me over for pizza parties. Having done research on oven designs, it looked like they got this one right: dome design, small opening, stone floor - and the price was right.

Assembly was simple and seasoning was simple enough. I decided to invite some friends over for the first run of pizzas. The instructions state you shouldn't run the oven on high while cooking. I wanted maximum temperature, so I kept the burner cranked to great effect.

A wood-fired oven cooks at temperatures of 900 - 1000 deg cooking pizzas in about two minutes. This isn't nearly as hot, but still turns pizzas out in five minutes with a nice char. I have been getting crispy, chewy crusts consistently.

As for another reviewers complaint about the opening - yes, it's small but needs to be to retain heat. You may need to practice with an aluminum peel using short, quick movements to slide off and pick up your pizza. I have had some experience with this and had no problem working with it.

My only complaint (my friends actually) is that I'm going to be less motivated to finish my big oven knowing this one is ready in 10 minutes

this pizza oven rocks!
We use it for tailgating and it's a huge hit! the kids (big and small) line up waiting for the crispy pizza to come out of the oven. I have not made the pizza dough recipe from the booklet yet - used store bought and a friend's recipe - worked great. It's also great with the premade flatbread pizza crust - i rotate between the two types and everyone loves them - sugges the peel along with it! fits perfectly!
The only thing you have to watch for is the wind blowing out the flame - I made my husband stand in front of it to block it - but that would happen with any gas run item

I'm now my family's pizza hero
This pizza oven is amazingly cool. For the first time ever, I'm able to make pizzas at home that satisfy my kids. In fact, my son told me the pizza I made was better than the pizza from his favorite pizzeria.

The oven is very simple to put together, and it hooks up to propane tank just like a BBQ grill. Starting it up is a snap, and it gets to full heat in about 10 minutes or so. Mine didn't quite get to 700 degrees, but it got plenty close enough to make an amazingly crisp crust.

You'll definitely need a pizza peel to work with this over because 1) there's no other way to really get the pizza in an out of the over and 2) you'll look really cool with it anyway. :-)

I found that it's necessary to rotate the pizza once or twice while cooking to ensure an even browning around the crust.

I'm really excited to keep experimenting with all sorts of different toppings now that I'm an official pizza man

"Surprisingly Good, exceptional value"
Having moved from using pizza stones on the grill, I can say that this is a significant step up.

The oven heats evenly and the build quality is above average for the price. We've used it 4 times so far for a total of 8 pizzas and absolutely love it.

It cooks the dough perfectly, with one turn during the process, and gets the toppings evenly crispy.

It's easy to use, after you figure out how to slide raw pizza dough off a peel.

Real information on product
I am culinary trained, food focused with a 2800 bottle wine cellar. I travel the world to eat, book the best restaurants in the world. Bottom line - food is my focus. This device is solves a lot of problems for providing an alternative to a full on wood fired stone pizza oven at an incredible price. It is easy to assemble and does what it says. The opening could be larger and the height could be expanded or other food applications, but it does what it represents very well. I use it several times a week. Very good product that does what it says

Favorite new way to make Pizza!
Pizza is a passion for our family, but let's face it, getting that perfectly crispy crust with the right amount of chew just doesn't happen with most home made methods. Which is why I could not wait for the arrival of our new Pizzeria Pronto. 700+ degree cooking temp? Easy assembly? Easy to use? Pizza in less than 10 minutes? Sign me up!

The first night we used it, we had a intimate family dinner of about 20 (BIG Family!) and WOW what amazing results. Every single pizza was crispy and perfectly cooked with just one turn during the cooking process. The temperature and cook time stayed even throughout the evening's cooking, and we got a restaurant quality pizza every single time. Needless to say, the whole family loved it!

I highly recommend this product to anyone that is looking for that restaurant quality pizza but doesn't want the hassle or cost of going to a restaurant. It's so easy, and the pizza is so good, there's no need to go out anymore

"Busy mom, picky kids, don't like cooking..."
I first learned about this product at a kids party 3 weeks ago, had to get one right away. I am not the greatest cook and just don't have the time... My friend turned me onto this pizza oven by giving me little hints like... get the pre made dough at Whole Foods or TJ's for less than $2 which gets you two pizzas. What I had to deal with before where kids nagging about how one wants the cheese, the other doesn't, one likes meat, the other doesn't, you get the point. I would end up spending $30-$40 bucks on getting ready made pizzas (min 2 at a time) in order to please everyone. This oven has changed my life and is already saving me money... my kids love to help with the dough and laying out the toppings. I usually get extras cut up and keep them in ziplock bags so all is ready to go. All I need to do is roll out my $2 dough, spread on the sauce, kids add their favorite choices of toppings and voila! We end up with delicious pizzas in just minutes that the entire family can be happy with. Thank you so much for inventing this product

Great Great Pizza Oven!
Three weeks ago I accidentally stumbled on this oven while looking at a cadre of new products on the internet. After viewing the available videos I knew I had to get one.

I've been making pizza on the grill over 10 years and when you want to make 6-8 pizza's for your friends it is a big hassle to partially cook the dough on one side, flip the dough and partially cook in on the other side to bring it back to the table to add the toppings and then put it back on the grill to melt the cheese.

I have my own dough recipe that has been very successful and continue to use. If you are fermenting your dough (recommended) in the refrigerator (up to 3 days prior to use) make sure you take it out and bring it to room temperature for the best results.

Like others we have found that less is more. My assistant put way too much toppings on a few pies and it was a struggle to cook them properly.....

I purchased a steel pizza peel for turning and removing the pies. I happen to think the steel is more effective on the way out because it is thinner.

In the 3 weeks we have been using the outdoor oven, we have made at least 18-20 pizzas and additionally we have also have been very successful making calzone and stromboli.

Now I can't make pizzas fast enough!

I got my oven 3 weeks ago and have used it every weekend so far. It gets really hot (mine was over 700 degrees) so the crust was perfect...and the cheese was bubbling like a real pizzeria!...even the toppings were done to perfection.
We loved it and it was easy to get the perfect pizzas every time...but it's a real oven, so you have to pay attention to the cooking of your pizza.
Getting a little dark at night now so I kinda wish there was a little light inside???
Looking forward to trying some new toppings this weekend.
Absolutely love this thing...and so does my family

Blazing hot for great crust!
I've used my Pizzeria Pronto extensively and the igniter has always worked perfectly. It is important to follow the instructions. If you must use a match remove the cover and stone, no big deal. Replace it once the oven is on. The best part about Pizzeria Pronto is the high heat that can be accurately controlled. I've tried baking pizza on charcoal fired Webber style BBQs and could not maintain a consistent temperature. It's always changing which is crazy making. Pizzeria Pronto is a terrific value and with a little bit of practice and a good dough recipe it'll produce an amazing pizza. Bon Appetit

Family fun!!!
The pizzeria pronto made dinner easy, fast, and fun for the whole family! We just followed the instructions and it worked well for each pizza we tried. We tried a number of different toppings and everything came out cooked evenly. We also purchased the pizza peel, which made handling the pizzas really easy. I highly recommend this product to anyone who loves pizza

"Great pizza is here!!!! And, lots of fun."
Husband and I looked at both the small version and this larger one and we are so glad we bought the larger oven. Anything that gets to 700 degrees should be outside anyway. Set up was easy and it is a must to season your stone as the instructions (read well) tell you. The use of flour on your metal peel is definitely not necessary. Takes to much flour and it is yucky and messy. Once your dough is made use semolina flour to roll your dough out instead of all-purpose flour. It allows the beginning pizza maker who has not twirled pizza to use rolling pin and make either thin, medium or thick crust more evenly. Lay your formed pizza onto a piece of parchment, cut paper around pizza, put on your fixings and the parchment slides right on to your peel and slides off into the oven. Let cook about 30 seconds to a minute and slide peel in under and slightly out of oven. Once partially out hold parchment and send pizza back into oven. Works great!! Parchment will burn if left under pizza so don't forget to remove it....It gives you the ability to roll out a lot of pizzas and have everyone put on their toppings without the peel. Saves so much time and makes it so fun to see what everyone is putting on their homemade pizza. Fleishmans makes a pizza yeast and recipe on back of package worked great. 30 minute pizza dough..No rising required..Made three times the recipe in my Kitchen Aide with dough mixer on it and it made perfect sticky crust. Oven worked even better the second night as well..Awesome! Awesome! Well everyone this is a great gift. It was my birthday and Mothers' Day!!! Yeah!!!

So much fun to cook with!
My friends and family LOVE this, we made pizza during a football game for about 15 people. Everyone loved it. The kids especially loved picking out their own toppings. Can't wait to use it again- made 8 pizzas and they all tasted wonderful- crust was perfect. Turned it once after about a minute and a half. Ordered the adapter for propane so we can take this camping and on picnics easier. This is a great gift

Pretty darn good
This oven isn't the panacea (available at the local barbecue store for several thousand bucks), but it does a pretty good job. The $300 price, plus about $60 for a propane tank if you don't have one, is pretty fair. They claim it will make a 14" pizza, but the opening is only 13 1/2 "- not a bit deal, but a lot of peels come in 14" and won't fit. The automatic ignition, presumably a piezzoelectric setup, has yet to light on the first try; I think it's sparking before there's enough gas; I turn it on BRIEFLY, wait a few seconds (not 5 min), and then it lights right away. The stones are a bit light, and it runs cooler on the side with the opening- I think it works best on smaller pizzas, and not a lot of toppings. You will need to turn the pizza a few times. It easily reaches 800-900 degrees, and works better there than at 700; I give it a bit more preheat time than advertised- it's still pretty quick. The pizza so far isn't quite up to what I make in the regular oven in a perforated pan, but it took me a while to get that one down; I think the quality will be fine, and not heating up the kitchen is a huge plus.

Best Father's Day gift I EVER bought!!
LOVE this pizza oven!! We will never buy pizza out again, because ours is better!! The only suggestion I have is to buy a couple of pizza screens, the make it work even better!! I like my crust thick and chewy, and mot burnt at all and the pizza oven with the pizza screens! Perfecto!!! It's a splurge, but SOOOOO worth it!

Love this Pizza Oven
This is a great buy and a very functional item. It was easy to put together and easy to use. We did small pizzas as an appetizer at our July 4 BBQ and everyone loved them. The oven is just so functional. Pizzas come out just right!! I plan to purchase more of these Christmas gifts for friends!

One of my favorite Sur La Table purchases ever
We bought this oven and it has ruined us forever! The pizza that comes out is so good, we can never order delivery pizza again. It is so quick and easy! We are looking forward to taking it camping with us in the future! Great for parties and family gatherings.

Pizza Wizzard
This oven is great and so easy to use. I was shocked at how quickly and with such easy pizza's could be cranked out. Can you say Christmas Presents!

Easy to put together, easy to season, easy to use. The first time we used it every pizza was perfect. Friends all had a great time making their own personal pizza. Do not be afraid of using corn meal both on bottom of pizza when you roll out the dough and on the peel, makes sliding pizza in and out much easier. The next day we got several phone calls asking for take out pizza and asking if we deliver! Pizza night is now a weekly event.

Lots of fun
He’s having lots of fun with it and we love the results.
There is a learning curve with the pizza stone etc, but even with a not perfect pizza, it’s better than anything we’ve made at home before.

Very disappointed
I bought this as a gift for my chef/husband who makes many home made pizzas. The opening was not big enough to easily slide the pizza on the stone and get it off the Aluminum Pizza Peel. The way the lid closes you can't easily slide the pizza spatula back out. Then when the pizza is done and you try and slide it back on the pizza peel to remove it, it pushes the cooked pizza into the metal surround and ruins the top of it. The metal top has no hinge and it is 700 degrees so you cannot lift it out of the way to better access the pizza. We had to return it

Not As Advertised!
It does not get to 700F degrees.

During seasoning, it got to about 575F degrees, that was by running the oven for 20 minutes.

The hottest it got was about 600F. It took about 1/2 hour to reach that temperature.

After putting a fresh pizza in (thin neopolatana style), the temperature immediately dropped to 575 and stayed there.

It DOES NOT go to 700F+

There are rubber stops inside of the oven to help hold the pizza stones in place. Those melted and turned partially to ash.

The automatic ignition does not work either. I had to light it with my butane kitchen torch.

I have looked online for pictures and videos of this oven. I have not yet found a picture where the temperature is pictured at over about 600F. I bought this oven based on the advertising that it goes to or above 700F
