A unique alternative to the usual platter/tray for food service. This wood slice is the perfect size for displaying hors d'oeuvres. It has a smokey scent which when I used it the first time imparted a smokiness to the mushroom bruschetta I placed on it. Don't know if that smokiness will last, but it's fun at first. It is a conversation piece. Could be used in so many ways such as a table centerpiece with cedar sprigs, pinecones, candles and ornament balls for Christmas or ferns, fresh flowers and bunnies for Easter
Just like the other review says, this platter is unique with a distinct smoky aroma. I used for the first time last night and served cheese on it, everyone loved the smoky flavored cheese. I too hope it lasts.
The one suggestion I have for anyone who wants to purchase this platter is if you have the option, purchase this from the store. These are obviously natural wood so each platter comes in different sizes, patterns, and shapes. Some run much smaller than others. I was lucky to find one that is quite large and perfectly round shaped. If you don't have the store option, it is still a really nice piece and worth purchasing.

Best Answer:I can't say if the bark is coated with anything, but I can say that my two preschool-aged boys have carried the cheese board a couple of times and banged it into the countertop once, and nothing chipped off. We have had it for a few months now and have noticed no bark come off.
Best Answer:Clean it like any cutting board: never soak in water or put in dishwasher. Clean by spraying it with white vinegar or small amount if dishwashing soap and rinse well; wipe vinegar off then let dry. After it is dry, pour small (50 cent size) amount of Mineral Oil approved for food, found at drug stores, then wipe off. Good to go!
