Fantastic Pan
I ordered this pan on-line for cooking pasta and boiling potatoes and things like that. I love it! When you use great quality pans like the Mauviel M' Collection it really pays off in how your food turns out. I also purchased a large frying pan, and that is wonderful also. Heats up so evenly and browns food perfectly if that is what you need it for. I was not disappointed at all in my purchases and I love the brushed interior and exterior of the pans too. You don't have to worry as much about scratching them. I made mashed potatoes for a crowd using the stockpot and everyone loved them!

The watched pot never boils. And neither does this one.
I've used this stockpot on two different stoves now in two different homes and it is, without a doubt, the least efficient stockpot I've ever owned.

It takes so long for the water to come to a boil that you'd better plan ahead and start the water before anything else for your meal.

The handles are great and making draining the pot easy, but they can't make up for how long it takes to boil water. I wish it made sense, but no other piece of clad cookware I own has managed to take this much time to do its job.

We love cooking soups and stews in our stockpot and thought the bride and groom would too, plus, it met our price point for their wedding gift.

Is this stockpot 5-ply like the other pieces in this collection?

Given its lower price point and the tendency of most cookware manufacturers to concentrate the majority of the heat conductivity in a stockpot's base, is this stockpot a true 5-ply piece? Or does it only have the 5-ply in its base
A shopper on Aug 17, 2013
Best Answer: The 5-ply construction goes all the way up the sides.

Is this stock pot oven-safe up to certain temperatures?

Many high-quality stockpots say they're oven-safe up to 500 or 600 degrees. This lets them serve dual purpose as a dutch oven, which is nice
A shopper on Dec 25, 2013
Best Answer: This stockpot is oven safe up to 680 degrees.

What type of steel is it? I prefer 18/10 and I can only find info on line that is "stainless steel".
Also Ferretic Steel is used in another 9qt stainless stock pot from Mauviel. I hope this is NOT an alloy
on this pot - lastly, why is there 5 layers of the same material (5ply)? Usually layered pots have different metals
separating one from another... thank you :)
Stephen S on Nov 18, 2015
Best Answer: This pot is made of 18/10 stainless steel. The 5 layers are 2 stainless steel, & 3 of an aluminum & aluminum alloy in between these layers of steel.
