A favorite of bakers for over 70 years, this heirloom-quality mixer features a unique, rotating bowl design that delivers smooth, silky and elastic dough every time. This time-tested design effectively mimics kneading by hand—the deeply fluted roller acts like fingers, while the scraper functions like the palm of the hand.

Easily adjustable, the powerful, efficient motor includes a speed sensor that automatically matches motor torque to the load, while the included timer ensures your dough is ready when you are.

The included whisk bowl allows you to mix up meringue, cream, butter, icing and more, while an array of optional attachments converts the Original into a kitchen assistant that combines versatility and functionality in one convenient package.

Heavy-And Heavy Duty
I've owned this mixer for roughly 20 years. It has made thousands of cakes and breads for me. It does have a certain learning curve compared to the ubiquitous K'Aid, but once that short period is over, so much information in the process of food preparation is available with this type of mixer. Though it comes with a dough hook, I use the roller and scraper for all my breads; it makes for a softer, more hydrated dough. The meat grinder is at least twice the heft of other home mixers. This is also the quietest stand mixer I've used, and I have Bosch also. Plus, it'll fascinate your friends when they see that big, beautiful bowl turning instead of some frantic paddle beating around!

it's a joy
I struggled with the question about whether the Ankarsrum was worth the extra money over the K-aide when my Viking ceased working (again). If you can afford it, then I highly recommend it, particularly if you bake bread regularly. I bake at least one loaf of bread weekly (different flours and sizes). This mixer works smoothly and more efficiently than the K-Aide or Viking that I've had in the past. I use only the roller even for large batches of bread/roll dough. There is a separate bowl for cake/cookies and mixes batters well. I really like the fact that there is no arm over the bowl so it's very easy to add flour, eggs, etc. as it mixes cake batter.
