Why didn't I think of this? I bought this a couple of months ago because it looked interesting and I'm always open to a better way to separate egg whites. I used it this morning to separate eggs for my Christmas macaroons. After I broke each egg into the "control bowl", this little gem sucked the yolk up cleanly and quickly. The yolk was intact, so I didn't have to worry about contaminating subsequent egg whites with yolk. The yolks release easily into a separate bowl. I was finished in no time flat. It couldn't have been easier. This would be a great gift for bakers, especially at such a reasonable price!
This is just another gimmick. I suppose it might work with a little practice and some patience. I found however with no practice and absolutely no patience required a metal meat baler, scissor type works about as well as anything I've tried. This thing just doesn't work well at all.... for me anyway. Pulls up a good part of the white with the yolk. I feel I wasted my money on this. Can I give it less than one star? That's what I give it..... 0-stars.
My hands shake due to an illness and long hospital stay. I can't separate eggs manually any more and this looked easier than an egg separator because i will only have to use one hand to use it. I'm looking forward to giving a try.
The only real healthiest way to eat eggs is by egg whites only and separating the yolk IS a choir, especially if it's eggs by the case. This takes the leg work out of all the hassle of getting the yolks out.
