Worked well when it worked.
I liked this slicer when I first got it. It was sharp and the slices were even. Too bad I only used it twice before it fell apart. I'll be returning it soon.

Good company but junk slicer
I expected a lot more from Microplane - mine fell apart after maybe 5 uses.

Why did you choose this?
Sur La Table Store
I needed a new julienne planer. This is a good one and take up a lot of room. It isn't as easy to use as one mounted on a box. It's hard to store and protect the blades.

Small enough for daily use.

I thought it would slice potatoes faster -- and I had a chance to test it in the cooking class.

How do you use the julieene sllicer
A shopper on Oct 11, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Here's a super helpful video from microplane that provides helpful instructions on how the julienne blade is used.http://vimeo.com/7394455
how do you remove the julienne part

When I opened the package, it says that the julienne is in the on position and I saw on a tube video that it can be stored. Unfortunately, the demonstration is very brief and I can't see what you do to remove the julienne part
A shopper on Apr 22, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The instructions can be downloaded on the Microplane website. According to those instructions, you need to align the blade thickness to 0. Then carefully unclip & remove the julienne cartridge from the bottom slot located on the underside of the slicer by squeezing on the tab with the arrow and lifting up
Does the clear plastic food grip attach to the slicer for storage? It's quite sharp!
A shopper on Feb 13, 2014
BEST ANSWER: No, the gripper does not attach to the slicer
