Disappointed
The collapsible feature is great and I love the handle which makes it very easy to hang on my peg board. The reason I only gave it 3 stars is because I find the holes are a little to big. If you are straining thin spaghetti it gets stuck 1/2 in and out of the holes. It works grat fo large vegetables, but I had to keep my old colander for pasta.

I love it
My new toy- it collapses down to almost flat ,about 11/2 inches deep. It's had boiling water pored though it with no problem and it cleans up beautifully. I have had angel hair pasta slip through the holes. but not enough to get upset over. I'm getting this to give as hostess gifts this year.

can this be immersed in a pot and used to cook pasta. in other words, immersed in boiling water for 10 minutes?

Best Answer: I have given this a 'dunk; in boiling water and had no issues whatsoever. I have not used it as you are describing but imagine it would probably be okay as silicone usually holds up pretty well. I will note that I have the silicone spatter guards and have actually put them in the oven and baked on them! (Basically the same product). Hopefully this will be helpful.
