Disappointed
The collapsible feature is great and I love the handle which makes it very easy to hang on my peg board. The reason I only gave it 3 stars is because I find the holes are a little to big. If you are straining thin spaghetti it gets stuck 1/2 in and out of the holes. It works grat fo large vegetables, but I had to keep my old colander for pasta.

can this be immersed in a pot and used to cook pasta. in other words, immersed in boiling water for 10 minutes?

Best Answer: I have given this a 'dunk; in boiling water and had no issues whatsoever. I have not used it as you are describing but imagine it would probably be okay as silicone usually holds up pretty well. I will note that I have the silicone spatter guards and have actually put them in the oven and baked on them! (Basically the same product). Hopefully this will be helpful.
