Homemade Pies are even better when they look homemade. This pie plate does just that. It is sturdy, beautiful, and functional. While smell and taste are important in a good pie, the presentation can invite a person to try a pie. I especially love the ruffly edge, which adds the perfect touch to my apple pie
Not only are its colors vibrant, its shape, weight and feel are just what anybody making pies at home could ask for. A recommended purchase for any pie hobbyist. Nothing sticks and the pies come out with a near perfect thickness and texture. You can freeze it (as some recipes ask for) and then place it in a preheated oven.
I absolutely love my SLT stoneware pie dish. Not only does my crust bake evenly and to perfection every time, but the dish is gorgeous! It makes fluting a snap and it cleans up with ease. Highly recommend. BTW - this dish makes an excellent gift for the baker or pie lover in your life!
Needed a 10" deep dish pie plate for a key lime pie and found this on line in red. Makes a great presentation. They were exceptional in wrapping the product well for presentation and shipping. I kept all the wonderful wrapping materials in case I need to ship something. Such a delight to receive a beautifully wrapped package. Great attention to deetail.
This is a great pie plate. I've never been able to make those pretty scalloped borders, and now it is a breeze. The rim helps you manage the border flawlessly. And it's a pretty plate to bring to the table too.
I just picked up the mustard yellow dish and was so impressed with it's quality. My crust came out perfectly and the pie was a family favorite. This dish is a must get. The price makes this a must get and style makes it a must give as gifts. Makes a nice deep pie**
Bought this before and made the pies for Thanksgiving this year with he pie dish. Beautiful browned crust, pumpkin was super creamy this year and the bottom of the pie was actually cooked instead of raw. LOVE IT! Buying these for my daughters
I love these beautiful pie dishes. I made 8 pies for my daughter's wedding. They looked beautiful and had a lovely presentation in these dishes. Then I gifted some of the pie dishes to them, and I am sure they will treasure the dishes too.
Best Answer:I have used this pan to make meringue topped pies, using the broiler in my gas range to brown the meringue a bit when my torch is out of fuel. The pan is in the middle of the oven so not up close to the broiler and is only in the oven for a minute or two at most. I wouldn't broil/cook close to the heat source in a ceramic or glass pan and can't say if this particular pan is broiler safe for anything else than what I've done with it.
Best Answer:The dish states, " freezer safe." However; we always set out the dish at room temperature for one hour prior to putting it in the pre-heated oven. We have had Emile Henry shatter when we took it from freezer to oven. Warm regards, Gary
Hi Gary! I appreciate your helpful reply. Doesn't the Emile Henry bakeware state and therefor guarantee going from freezer to oven in their description? I would be very dissatisfied if it shattered. I am torn between buying the Sur La Table stoneware pie dish not knowing the quality. I love Emile Henry and have many bakeware items and LOVE the quality and high temperature feature that it offers. How does the Su La Table compare? The discription for the Sur La Table doesn't seem as detailed on line. I don't have a store near me so online is a good alternative option.
There seems to be conflicting answers as to how much this particular pie plate holds. One person says it holds apprx. 4 cups. Another's says it holds 7 cups. That's a pretty big difference. It would be nice to have the correct information
Best Answer:When I measured the capacity of this pie plate, I measured the overall capacity, filled to the brim, which is 7 cups. Keep in mind that the other contributor says it hold ""4 cups of filling,"" meaning not filled to the brim & not including the top & bottom crust. Both answers are correct; it has an overall capacity of 7 cups, and holds about 4 cups of filling
Has anyone tried to make a graham cracker crust in this pan? I'm curious how it would work with the scalloped edges. Thanks!

Best Answer:I've used this plate several times for graham cracker crusts. The scalloped edges don't really affect it as the crust stops at the top of the side rather than against the scalloped edge. I use a half-cup size flat-bottomed measuring cup to press the crumb mixture against bottom and sides of the plate. As the crumb mixture comes up the sides of the pan, I use my index finger as a "back-stop" forming the top edge of the crust to help compact it. I do this for crumb crusts in whatever pie pan I'm using. The top edge of the crust ends up the same in this scalloped edged plate as in a straight-edged pie plate/pan since the crust doesn't go "over the edge" (like a pastry crust edge) in whatever plate/pan is used. Serves as easily too.
