My favorite kitchen tool
If you like traditional handles, this is the perfect knife for you. I have both classic and hollow edge 6"" blades. Perfect size for my hand. The quality of the Wusthof Classic series is unmatched. These will last you a lifetime so you only need one. If you get a second one as a gift, keep it. This is my favorite kitchen tool of all time

Smaller Knife is Good Fit
Many people suggest the standard 8 in chef knife as the best tool. As a new cook, I find that the 6 in Chef's knife from Wusthoff Classic line offers the sturdy precision and control for someone not as familar with cutting. I also have smaller hands so the shorter blade works better for vegetable and meat prep

Wustof Chefs Knife Worth every penny
I've been cooking for about 40 years. I've always used what ever knife was in the drawer. About 4 years ago I got to be very serious about cooking and started to improve my tools. Getting a Wustof chefs knife is like going from a tricycle to a Mercedes. Wow, I'd never realized how much easer everything is when a great tool is in hand.

I keep my knife sharp, I am doing things with that knife I'd though were not possible given my past experience with other knives. don't wait, get the very best knife you can afford, even if it is pricy.
It makes the prep of vegetables, proteins, and anything else so much easer and faster.

8 inch chef knife

i am looking to purchase an 8 inch chef knife for my wife who likes to cook (very good at it). is there a particular brand and model you would recmnd?we looked at the victorinox and it looked nice but it was model 41620 and seemed more expensive than the one you are showing. please advise. preferably in the 30 to 75 dollar range or there about. Thanks! mike

Best Answer: There are 2 types of Victorinox, stamped and forged. The lower priced one is the stamped knife, cut from a sheet of stainless/carbon. It has no bolster so it is lighter in weight. Forged knives will produce a knife that has more elasticity and strength. They are ice hardened which will help a knife retain it's edge longer, so less sharpening! Go into any Sur La Table...they will let you feel and use the knives. I really think this is the best way to buy a knife. Take it for a test run first and see what feels best in her hand

Wsthof Classic PEtec Chefs Knives - Are these stainless Steel, No-Stain or CArbon steel
A shopper on Oct 16, 2011
Best Answer: These are high carbon no-stain steel. No steel is truly ""stainless"", but these are as close as can be. The high carbon content means an incredibly sharp edge
