Great pressure cooker!! Highly recommend!
I absolutely LOVE this thing!! It is probably the best pressure cooker that I have ever used, and I have been cooking with pressure cookers for years!! Super user friendly and efficient. The durable stainless steel quality that is Made in Spain will allow me to keep my pressure cooker for many many years to come. I own the 8 quart model and it cooks my food perfectly every time and the removable timer is definitely a plus. It can also be used as a stainless steel stockpot thanks to the glass lid it comes with. Can't get better than that

Perfect size
I spent weeks trying to figure out which pressure cooker to buy. I kept looking at the high end Swiss made one, but wasn't happy with the size. Tall & narrow diameter would require browning meat in 2+ batches. Finally came across this one. Close to 10" interior diameter. I also like the fact that replacement gaskets don't cost an arm & a leg. I've had this for a week and have used it 3 times and have had great success. Too bad it's mail order only. Almost missed it.

I bought this to replace the (now discontinued) AllClad electric pressure cooker, which was great in theory but didn't work very well. Thank you Sur la Table for your generous return policy!

Great pressure cooker
I replaced my old Fagor with this model. Got the bigger size so that I could use it for larger quantities and I am glad I did. Still use it for just the two of us, but it makes more soup or stock for example than the smaller model. The only complaint I have is that the small round handles do not allow for much leverage when attempting to pour hot food out of the cooker. The longer handles generally worked better than this type. Especially if the cooker is full, because my small hands aren't capable of pouring out a full heavy pot with these handles. My husband's larger hands got burned once when pouring out food. Overall these are just minor issues that we work around.

Why did you choose this?
Sur La Table Store
Good size for a pressure cooker and comes with both pressure and regular lids. Very versatile.

It is made in Spain and is highly recommended by Cook's Illustrated. I had to donate my last pressure cooker because I now have an induction cooktop and it would not work with induction. I am happy to find this Fagor which can be used on my stovetop.

I have needed a new pressure cooker for some time and have researched them extensively. I like what I have read about this and look forward to using it.

I took a class at Sur La table and they used it to make risotto in 7 minutes and the product was amazing.

can this be used for canning as well?

not sure but it seems as if all pressure cookers double as canners.I'd like the better model-this one if possible and I'll just get my own canning great.I'm looking for longevity and I like that it is made in Europe.

What are the main differences between the Fagor Chef Pressure Cooker and the Fagor Duo Pressure Cooker?
Stella C on Jan 27, 2015
Fagor® Chef Pressure Cooker
Fagor® Chef Pressure Cooker
Fagor Duo Pressure Cooker
Fagor Duo Pressure Cooker
Best Answer: In addition to the answers already given, the handles on the Duo let you pour food out of the cooker more easily when it is full. I like my Chef but the small round handles don't give much leverage when the cooker is full of hot food.

Can you brown your meat in this pressure cooker?
Nancy P on Dec 7, 2014
Best Answer: Yes, I have used this to brown meat and it has been great on our gas range. We do not use a flame tamer and haven't seemed to need one with the recipes we have tried so far.

How do I make a quick beef stew in my new Fagor 3 in 1?
Josephine J on Oct 5, 2015
Best Answer: Hi - I love my new pressure cooker! I haven't made a beef stew yet, but I would probably look at the slow cooker recipes for beef stew on the internet, and then figure out how much cooking time a pressure cooker would require. I have made cauliflower soup - artichokes - and steamed corm, which is much more tender than any other cooking method. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Gail

What are the weight and dimensions of the 10 quart cooker? Would it take much longer to come to pressure than the 6 or 8 quart models with a similar quantity of food, say 3 quarts of soup or stew?
Ivy S on Oct 13, 2015
Best Answer: 15-1/10" diameter x 10-1/4" H, with a 10 quart capacity, 10lbs. It shouldn't take much longer than the smaller models when using a similar quantity of food.
