Description

ECO-FRIENDLY This beautiful and sturdy end-grain chopping block features easy grip handles for easy flipping and transfer. Manufactured in the USA from only the finest maple, each board is reversible to help prevent cross-contamination.

On top of that, the Boos cream finish creates a protective layer that prevents food and moisture from damaging the wood. To ensure the life of this heirloom-quality block, simply wipe clean with mild soap, water, and a damp cloth and reapply cream or oil when the board becomes dry or lighter in color.

Great cutting board
Big enough work space, but not so big that it is hard to move, wash, or store. It can stand on end in a regular wire dish rack for drying

Why did you choose this?

i wanted a large block but not too heavy and the 3 inch height is good for my back and neck while working in the kitchen but the 4 inch height is too tall and the board too heavy- so PLEASE make sure this is the 3 inch tall block!

End grain cutting boards are friendlier to your knife's edge. All my cutting boards (8 or 9 of them) were all edge grain or worst like bamboo, so I splurged on a real nice end grain board!

Needed new wood board, and wanted an end grain board to protect my knives. Picked 12" square, because after I cut out cardboard squares and put them on the counter, I was surprised how big 12x12 actually is.

12" square size, durability, easy on knives and two sided. One side I will use for cutting herbs and vegies; the other side for meats. Suitable for my small space.

Does this board have feet or does it lay flat on surface?
A shopper on Dec 4, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The board lays flat on the countertop without feet. It allows two sides of cutting.
The board is heavy and there is no problem with slipping on the countertop. I have two Boos blocks and love both of them!
Can both sides be used? How does it differ from the maple end-grain chopping block? Advantages of maple vs. cherry?

BEST ANSWER: I have this cherry end-grain board as well as a Boos edge-grain maple board. The edge-grain board is beginning to separate ever so slightly while the cherry end-grain is still one solid massive piece. This is a very well made board. To me it provides a slightly softer cutting surface than maple but it does not easy mar. Plus, the color of the cherry wood is beautiful. Both sides can be used but I opted to attach small rubber feet to the underside to give me better grip on my granite counters. This board is so massive I doubt I will ever need to turn it and use the other side, but if I do I'll just remove the rubber feet.
