I have many Le Creuset sizes. Each has their own purpose. But as the kids are gone, I don't need the HUGE ones as often. I wanted one in between the 5 quart and the thinner braiser. This pot arrived today and Im already using it. PERFECT SIZE, not as heavy to handle but deep enough to keep evething in the pot.. As usual its, gorgeous, and all things about this brand apply. It is an investment piece and taken care of will last a lifetime. They go from oven to stove top, I can store leftovers in the refrigerator without worry abut metal. The porcelain interior is easy to clean. Just soak in hot water a few minutes and it comes out beautifully. I cant say enough about this brand. The price on this pot was reasonable. The shipping was quick this time, and I thank Sur La Table for the carefull packing and price. Oh, and the sticky sticker on the outside. I always soak the pot in real hot water, and it peels of without having to scratch the pot.
I have several other pieces of Le Creuset and love them all. I have decided to start replacing my circulon and purchasing Le Creuset. This is a perfect sized pot for cooking my potatoes, vegetables, making oatmeal, sauces, my homemade ice cream bases, etc. I chose this pot over the regular French round dutch oven because frankly this one cost a lot less than the other 3.5 qt. I was a little worried because its a cocette and I searched everywhere to see exactly how high the sides compared to the round dutch oven. ( I still wanted a pot that had taller sides...not a pot like a braiser that is wider and shorter sides, but I was not disappointed! The sides are nice and tall and will hold my sauces, boiling water etc. I am absolutely in love! The Soleil color is so pretty! My Le Creuset are so beautiful and clean up soo nicely.
Having been using this Cocotte for a few weeks now and I absolutely love it. I have owned Le Creuset cookware for 30 years and only recently added a few new pieces, this being one of them. You can't go wrong with Le Creuset which will last a lifetime and give you many years of happy cooking with minimal care required.
For a 3.5 quart it is very versatile. I've made cooked cereals, sauces, soups, small batch of stewed meat and fried corn tortillas for tacos. The high sides and smaller size makes a great pot to cook three tortillas at once with very little mess and a minimal amount of oil.
The pot cleans up easily and quickly with a tiny amount of a squirt of soap from brush around the inside and outside, rinse and hand dry. So glad I purchased and plan to purchase another one soon!
I purchased this pot because of the shape. I have another 3.5 qt oval dutch oven that I use all of the time but this one has more of a curved side. You could make a huge pot of risotto in this type of pot as well as soup, stew, etc. The first thing that I made was a big chicken pot pie. It worked beautifully, as I knew it would. if you would like to get an in-between size with wonderful functionality then this is your pan.
I love to cook and I feel that Le Creuset is one of the best on the market. There is only 2 of us so I feel this will be the perfect size. Just wish I would have started earlier in life cooking with this brand. It's worth the money! .
I received a LeCreuset casserole dish (not sure that's what it is called) as a gift a few years ago and use it all the time to make stews and soups on the stove and casseroles in the oven. It's a beautiful pan. Cooks to perfection and so easy to clean. I'm paying forward so to speak by buying this pan for my sister as a birthday present. The sale price was an extra bonus.
I was deciding between the Staub and this, and finally committed to this one. Not only was the price great, but I wanted more quart for the money. I was going to get a staub braiser instead, but opted for this because I read that the honeycomb bottom was harder to clean.
I own many lecreuset pots. Use them everyday, from the small to extra large. Ive been looking for a medium size like this for some time. The price here is reasonable, and I know it will last a long time. The pieces go from stove top to oven to refrigerator with out worry.
I love the Le Creuset pots! I have a 7 1/4 quart dutch oven that we have had for 20 years. It has roasted many chickens, made many pots of soup, and batches of jam and jelly. My step-daughter wanted a smaller soup pot and she loved the rosemary color. I'm sure that she will enjoy using it! I might go back and buy a blue one!
I've heard nothing but good things about Le Creuset, so when this size became available at this terrific price I jumped at the chance to own it. I can't wait to use it for the first time! I live alone so the smaller size is just perfect for me.
I have several pots in other sizes and I love them. They cook and clean up beautifully. I think this shape and size will be on my stovetop constantly. I got the color Rosemary and I can't wait to see it.
Best Answer:Signature is a newer, updated version of Classic. Signature features larger handles, tighter fitting lids, knobs with a higher heat resistance & enamel that's easier to clean & more resistant to thermal shock.
I don't own a braiser (but it's not larger. 3.5 and 3 1/2 are the same size). I own two sizes in the casserole Signature--one is over 30 years old and still going strong. It's deep enough for stews and pot roasts. So, whichever you choose, enjoy!
What oven temperature can the le creuset lid knob withstand?
A shopper on Feb 22, 2015
Best Answer:The new generation of phenolic lid knobs can be used in oven temps up to 500F. The older lid knobs called "type A" made from the same material were only safe up to 390 degrees. If you have a new "type B" lid knob then you are okay up to the 500 degree temps. If you need to go higher than that temp then you need to purchase the stainless steel knobs which can be used at any temperature according to the literature Le Creuset puts in their booklet that comes with all new purchases.
When I got mine the insert information explained the different knobs. It looks like mine has the type "B" knob which is good up to 500 degrees F. You can always buy the steel knob separately and change it out if you want to. I absolutely LOVE this pan!
