The mugs make a great presentation and keep the beverage cold.
However, the nickel lining, or perhaps better stated nickel WASH, is washing off when hand washed. After just a few uses the interior started to tarnish and left a bad taste in my drink, and only intensified with additional use.
The might make cute sand scoops for the grandkids sandbox! Or maybe, I could plant something in them. Save your money

Disappointing Product
Yes, these beautiful (at first) mugs DO keep your drinks cold but......even after careful handing washing ,the mugs have the "copper" washing off all over and look all tarnished in spots. Very ugly now. Even have rusty looking spots on the copper. Junky. Way too expensive for the quality of them. DO NOT BUY unless you are only going to display them and don't plan on ever using them.

I love this mug!
I just purchased a few of these after a friend suggested them, I wish I had bought more as everyone wanted one at my party. They are well made, feel great in your hand and a good value for a copper mug. The recipe that came with the mug was a hit with my friends

Moscow Mule
What a beautiful product. Bought 4 of these for the holidays (wish I'd ordered more). Keeps drinks cold forever and the recipe for the Moscow Mule was far superior to anything I'd had before.

Do not buy
Much like quite a few of the other reviews, I hand washed these after one use and the exterior finish came off, resulting in very ugly, very discolored mugs.
Also, they're coated mugs and not actual copper. This should be obvious at this price point, but worth mentioning if you weren't aware. I have since bought two real solid copper mugs and the extra price was well worth it and makes these mugs look like kids play toys (except, I'm not sure if I'd let my kids play with mugs that have a finish that flakes off...)

beautiful and functional
I received one of these as a gift and am now going to buy more. They are not only beautiful to look at but also keep drinks cold the entire time and are easy to hold. The recipe for the moscow mule that comes with the mug is also great - I just had a moscow mule out at a restaurant in San Francisco (unfortunately, served in a glass) and was sorely dissapointed. SLT recipe I made at home was by far better

Can't make a REAL Moscow Mule without them!
Solid, good-looking and just the right size. (just be sure not to let them sit overnight with lime juice in them as it WILL tarnish the inside...but that was MY fault.

Love!
I received 4 of the Moscow mule mugs a year ago as a gift and they are as pretty now as when I recieved them. We use a mild green/organic dish detergent when washing by hand. And my husband drinks his alcoholic beverages from them frequently. I am getting ready to purchase 4 more. We love them!

Great Mug!!
Have used these several times and love them! Clean up great, and look even better over time. They really keep the drinks super cold as well. We've been using them for gin and tonics too. Such a cool way to serve drinks! I have found the quality of the mugs to be excellent

Is the nickel lining supposed to wear off?
We noticed that the nickel lining has worn off considerably in our mugs, is this from the lime juice in the drinks? Researching online found several items stating that the nickel is supposed to wear off, what's the answer

BEST ANSWER: The nickel lining should not wear off of those mugs. i suggest returning or exchanging them.

Can these be used with hot drinks?
BEST ANSWER: I wouldn't suggest it. Because copper is such an excellent heat conductor, chances are any hot beverage you put in this mug would make the mug itself too hot for drinking

Are these solid copper or just copper plate?
BEST ANSWER: They are really lovely. They are copper on outside, and nickel on the inside. The combination of the two metals is so refreshing with the frosted outside of mug. The handle is easy on all finger sizes.
They are just such fun to use. Going to buy more for up coming holiday party.

Just received these as a gift, then read about the Prop.65 warning to lead exposure. How is one exposed to the lead, can it be ingested and is it in dangerous amounts? Don't understand how a lead contaminated drinking mug could be sold. Thanks...they're pretty to look at but I'd like to use them.
Is it $20 for 1 mug?

Why is there such a difference in the reviews? Half say they are junk the other half love them. Should I be looking for another supplier?
BEST ANSWER: All copper mugs patina. They are a natural element and are prone to fingerprints and potential discoloration if not cared for properly. Maybe this surprises some people. You cannot wash them in the dishwasher. You must hand-dry them thoroughly. If cared for, they will look great (and work great, keeping your drink ice cold) for years to come. I have copper mugs from 3 different stores (Sur la Table, Williams-Sonoma, and Crate & Barrel), and the quality and price are all comparable. So choose yours based on the look/style you like.

I bought 4 Moscow mule mugs. The mugs are discoloring on the inside. Appears the nickel plating is eroding and

I have not had that problem. I wash them gently in hot soapy water and dy them. In my opinion, I wouldn't continue using them.

Do the mugs go in the freezer?
BEST ANSWER: I've never put them in the freezer, however, I do not think it is necessary. You want to fill the cup with crushed ice and once you do that add in your ingredients. I mix my fresh squeezed lime juice and vodka in a shaker with ice first. Then add to cup of ice and garnish with a thin slice of lime. May I also recommend using Fever Tree ginger beer. Best I've tried (you can buy on Amazon). Awesome drink, awesome cup. When you put it al together the cup will be all but frozen. Enjoy!

Does it WORKNFOR HOT COFFEE?
BEST ANSWER: No. The copper conducts heat so well that it wouldn't be safe to drink hot beverages out of these mugs.

Do I store Moscow mule mugs in freezer?
BEST ANSWER: We would suggest not storing in the freezer as the moisture inside the freezer will cause your mugs to develop a natural patina which will change the color of your mugs. You will want to make sure your mugs are perfectly dry and that they are stored in a dry place.

I received these as a gift and didn't realize they couldn't be placed in the dishwasher. Is there any way to save them now? The effect of the dishwasher almost seems to make the mugs look like they have plastic melted on them (although I assume that's an illusion and the real problem is that the copper patina is peeling away).
BEST ANSWER: Try using salt and a half of a lemon to clean them. Even when you hand wash them, any water left behind will make them look dull.
