Get the most flavor and aroma from your spices by grinding them fresh right before you use them. This handy grinder features Kuhn Rikon’s CrushGrind™ ceramic mechanism—sharper and stronger than steel, it quickly grinds chiles, seeds, peppercorns, cloves, pods and more. Simply fill the base with any whole spice, invert and grind. There’s no central spindle to get in the way while filling, and the grinding mechanism sits at the top of the mill so your countertops stay clean. Mill easily adjusts from a coarse to extremely fine. To clean between spices, run a small amount of coarse salt through the grinder.

I've bought a couple of cheap pepper grinders at different home stores and none ever worked. I know Kuhn Rikon from their pairing knives - extraordinary practical, sharp and only $10 when not on sale - and loved the quality of the product. So I decided to give the spice mill from the brand a try. I was so happy these were on sale at Sur La Table! This spice mill is excellent.
They're called ""mini"" but they are quite big for a spice mill: the diameter of the base is 3"". I wish they had an even smaller size product. Unless space in your kitchen isn't a scarce resource, you won't buy many of these (like one for each of your spices), but rather 1 for pepper and maybe a 2nd one for the other spices or seeds you need to grind. The container is easy to open, empty and fill again. The manual asks to grind some kosher salt between 2 spices to get rid of the spice smell/taste.
And you can easily choose how fine you need your grinding to be. And change it as many times as you wish
