I purchased the Compact 14x10 Grill Grid for the marked $21.95 in an attempt to make the grill grate last longer and hopefully easier cleanup after grilling on a small 2-burner Brinkmann propane. The packaging says ""BUILT FOR GRILLING Designed to withstand intense heat and open flame"". After the first grilling (4 tenderloins, 1 and 2 inch thick to med rare and med using only salt, pepper, and cooking spray) using the instructions (spray or brush the grid lightly with a light coat of oil or lightly coat food with oil), the Grill Grid had blackened so badly it cannot be cleaned using the stated instructions (Hand wash and towel dry) and I hesitate to use it again. The cover says: ""Durable"" it is not; ""Easy Release"" yes, but this non-stick item requires oil; ""Heavy Duty"" I was concerned when I first placed it on the hot grill surface and it flexed badly, looking almost like aluminum rather than the carbon steel it is suppose to be; ""Built for Grilling"" not so much; ""Grill with Confidence"" I would not recommend
These grilling trays are great! They grill beautifully, allowing the flames and smokey flavor to come through but also making it easy to turn and remove food from the grill. I have used mine for scallops, vegetables, shrimp, and salmon. They work like a dream, and release and clean easily!
I really disagree with the previous reviewer of this product. The key to using these are not to burn them -- my guess is the previous reviewer was using way too high of heat. With theses you only need medium heat and you still get amazing grilled results.
We bought the 2 pc. set for sliders. Used only the bigger tray. My husband raved about how easy it was to grill with it. Followed the instructions to put a light coat of oil on tray. However, after using it was difficult to clean so I called and spoke with a customer service rep for Sur la table and she suggested using baking soda. I was very skeptical but proceeded and made a paste of baking soda and water and it cleaned right up but I had to use some pressure. Left a bit of discoloration, but it removed the heavy black food buildup (even though we used it only one time). I had the option of taking it back, but because using it was so easy for my guy, especially having a large group to feed, we'll keep it. Customer service for Sur la table is awesome!
We've used ours about 4 times and really like it. We typically grill between 350-450 degrees and haven't had any warping. The non stick feature works very well. The handles make it easy to use. I do need to try the baking soda clean up tip though to get off the darker residue.
