"Truly, a PERFECT pan"
The first thing I cooked in this pan was Mussels Provenal. From stovetop to table, I could not have found a better pan for this dish. Besides being gorgeous, the heat distribution and retention is exactly what I want. The lid eliminates the guess work. Clean up is a breeze. The pan stays planted on my glass top burner no matter how vigorously I have to stir. Did I mention how gorgeous it is? This pan is art. Seriously, you should be so lucky as to have such limited cabinet space that the Staub wok has to sit on top of your stove all the time. Not to overstate its beauty, but I actually sit, with a glass of wine in hand, and stare at this pan. If you need a push, trust me, buy one

It really is the perfect pan!
I just got this pan last week. I have used it a couple of times for stir fry. It is wonderful. It heats up evenly and holds the heat. Cleans up easily too.

What is the width of the bottom of this pan? I have a 12" induction element, so I want to be sure before buying. Is it 12" on the bottom, or very narrow like a wok?
Michelle R on Jul 2, 2015
Best Answer: it's 6 1.4'' at the bottom, great pan! an almost all-purpose kind of pan, for steaming-using a bamboo steamer, and even cook my pasta dishes.

Is this a non-stick pan?
barbara p on Feb 14, 2015
Best Answer: This is a seasoned cast iron pan - most items will not stick when used with appropriate heat and a small amount of oil. It does not have a chemical/metal non-stick coating such as Teflon. I've found it easy to keep clean with a metal mesh stainless steel cast iron cleaner and water (no soap), rinsing/cleaning while the pan is still warm, but not hot. I immediately dry it with paper towels. I will say it has exceeded my expectations and has a better seasoning that most Lodge cast iron skillets I have.

Is the handle of this pan getting hot during cooking?
A shopper on Jul 24, 2015
Best Answer: Yes. The beauty of cast iron cookware is that it provides an even heat to the food, the downside is that the whole pan will get hot and take a little longer to cool down. The heat issue is not a deal-breaker, and we prefer to use our cast iron cookware whenever possible.

Can you use this in hight heat on stove top? Chinese stir-fry requires really hot oil and non-stick pan cannot handle that. I am not sure if this can or cannot.
Jean H on Mar 16, 2015
Best Answer: Yes, it's enameled cast iron, meant for spreading and holding high heat. This doesn't have the silicon-type nonstick coating that you are talking about. It's nonstick more in the way that well-seasoned cast iron is nonstick. It's great because it really works on any type of stove top: gas, electric, glass flat-top, magnetic.

Rhonda on Oct 24, 2014
Best Answer: I try to use the wooden tools whenever possible, but I have used metal ones as well. I have never noticed any damage to the surface of any of my three Staub pans.

Can the lid be purchased separately? I have had a Staub pan like this one for several years and love it, but didn't have a lid.
Lucy on Sep 3, 2014
Best Answer: I'm not showing anywhere online that the lid can be purchased separately, but you may want to contact Staub. It's possible that they sell replacement parts.
