Water Temperature Too Low!
I had high hopes for the Nespresso Vertuoline. I was wrong.

Similarly to other reviews of the Vertuoline, the temperature of the coffee is too low.

Note: During the brewing process coffee is supposed to be between 195-200 degree F.

Generally speaking, I expect to have to wait a few minutes before drinking the coffee because it's too hot , however immediately after the Vertuoline brews the cup of coffee, it's already cooled down too much. If I wait a few minutes, the coffee becomes luke-warm and is undrinkable.

Sadly, my Vertuoline will be returned to Sur La Table

Extremely Disappointed!
As a reasonably pleased owner of a CitZ espresso maker for the past several years, I was excited to hear that Nespresso had developed a true single serving coffee maker. The CitZ makes a pretty good espresso for a pod system and has been in heavy daily use at making espresso for nearly 5 years. However, I sometimes desire a cup of coffee. I have exhaustively looked in the past to find a single serving coffee maker that was even remotely respectable at making a cup of coffee. I, unfortunately, continue to believe that it is not possible! The VertuoLine is no better!! It too makes watery, poor tasting coffee. Buyer beware. If you are a discerning coffee drinker do not waste your time or money on this machine. I will stick with my CitZ for espresso for now, and traditional coffee making methods for coffee as I continue my search

Honest Review
I have had my unit for about 2 years. I had a Pixie and loved it, but wanted a fuller cup of coffee, so I purchased this unit. In general I like the tast of the coffee and I like the amount of foam. I do not mind the noise. The coffee is hot enough for my taste..... But I do not love this machine. The pods are too expensive and the variety is very limited. So I give this unit onlly three stars becuase for me it is only average!

Get used to it
We thought the same thing about it not being hot enough. When you heat the coffee to much you can't enjoy the taste. We got used to it and are really enjoying the coffee. You can pop it in the microwave for 12 seconds if you want it a little hotter. The coffee is great. I don't know how anyone could find it watery. Good coffee should not be overheated. It ruins the flavor !! I think this is a great machine. We love it.

Not perfect but excellent
I taste tested before buying. The Espresso is great and the Americano is as well. I like my espresso and coffee full bodied and bold so I buy blends at the top of the scale. Anything less seems water t me. I find that true with an coffee. So if the Americano is too watery, buy a stronger blend. The Crema is he best part of the cup. It contains much of the volatile flavors. Someone called it "disgusting foam". The "foam" can b stirred into the cup or sipped and enjoyed for all of i's nuances. Stirring the crema into the cup will strengthen the flavor.

They vary the temperature for the blend just a tea lover does. The temperature affects the flavor. Black tea is great at 212 degrees, green tea would be ruined at any temperature higher than 185 degrees. The same can be true of coffee varieties.

great as a second machine
I got the Vertuoline and Aeroccino for Xmas. I agree with many of the posters here: the coffee is too cold coming out, so I need to heat my cups beforehand and I really don't like the extremely limited selection of coffees for the single serving. I like full-caf strong but smooth coffee. Of the 8 pods available, 2 are decaf or half-caf, 2 are flavored and the other 4 are not strong enough with the strongest being rated as 8. I also don't smell an aroma while it's brewing or even after the brew. Part of the pleasure of drinking coffee is inhaling the aroma and the Vertuoline pods only provide it if you stir your coffee while placing your nose directly above the cup.The espressos are much, much better and I will be using those. The single cups, in our house, will be relegated to guests who want an after dinner de-caf because we only have regular beans at our house and we will continue brewing our regular pots of coffee and use the Vertuoline for espresso. My other concern is the Aeroccino which does a good job frothing but the milk is barely tepid, not the 140F to 150F that you should have when you steam it. When you add the warmish milk to the warmish coffee you get something that is OK in taste but not what you hoped it would be. Like others here, I will learn to live with it as a second coffee maker in my kitchen for the occasional espresso, or latte and for guests who like decaf.

Buy something else.
Real disappointment, mediocre espresso and watery lukewarm coffee. Too foamy, very loud! Expensive proprietary pods.

i just wanted to write a review. I read almost every review on this machine before purchasing. The machine makes the best cup of coffee i've ever had. It's a little pricey, but if you truly love coffee it's worth every penny. The coffee is so rich. The temp is just perfect so you can get the full flavor of the coffee. I would personally recommend spending the extra 50 to get the milk frother to make the best lattes you will ever have.

Great machine for espresso and coffee
Got a demo of this in the store, very tasty espresso and coffee. Bought a Red bundle (includes milk frother).
Only hitch is machine would not go through clean cycle when we first got it, read about air blocking in the unit, took back to store, it worked fine there. If your machine doesn't start right away, turn off, wait a bit and try again. Once the air is out it works great.
The capsules included are a great selection. The coffee is tasty, you can tell the quality as you enjoy it.
Not scalding hot when it comes out, but still hot enough to enjoy.
When looking at the dedicated espresso machines that cost several times more than the Vertuo, is was pretty easy decision.

Awesome coffee AND espresso
I used to have a Francis Francis Y1.1 which made good espresso and a Keurig, which as everyone knows makes sub-par coffee, but this machine blows both out of the water. The consistent crema that comes out of this machine for not just espresso, but also regular coffee drinks, is delicious. I've actually stopped adding sugar to my coffee because the coffee tastes so good it doesn't need it (my favorite are the "hazelino" pods). It is true that sometimes the coffee and espresso don't come out as hot as I'd like and that's why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. But a quick 15 seconds in the microwave solves that problem.

Excellent cup of coffee
I explored this machine along with the Citiz machine and chose the Vertuoline after tasting a cup of coffee at the store. I think that this machine makes a great cup of coffee though the coffee choices are limited. I think the choice of coffee will increase over time as more of these machines are sold. It is also hot enough for me with the aeroccino milk frother.

Love at First Sip!
Wow! I've been looking for a single serve machine that actually delivers a great full cup of coffee and this is it! The coffee flavor is big and bold and the larger pod brews coffee that tastes like it came from a fresh French Press. The flavor is unbelievable, and when you stir in the rich crema it's unlike any coffee I've ever had before.

I also love the variety of pods, the Hazelnut is so good. Not sicky-sweet like some flavored coffee, just solid Hazelnut flavor. It's awesome, I love it.

If you want a single serve machine that actually delivers serious coffee for the sophisticated pallet, this is it

A Winning Product
This new coffee brewer from Nespresso is a hit in our household! We had been given a competing brand single-cup style brewer, but had trouble finding coffee good enough to bother purchasing (and forget the hot chocolate and tea - talk about tasteless and watery). The Nespresso Vertuoline is a completely different story. It is easy to use and clean, and every single flavor of available coffee and espresso is superb. Highly recommended

Nespresso Wins again
Nespresso has done it again and created yet another awesome machine. This sucker still delivers an awesome shot of espresso but has now opened its doors to coffee lovers. Added bonus, this machine is much quieter than earlier models even though it is doing more; that whole spin thing which makes the coffee even better. For those households that have a coffee maker and an Nespresso, i.e. my parents, you can now take back that extra counter space with this one machine. Can you say Christmas Present?

Nespresso Vertuoline is outstanding
I ordered this after researching a variety of pod coffee and espresso makers and sampling some that tasted no different than old fashioned instant coffee crystals. The coffee and espresso this machine creates are out of this world! If you have been to Europe and long European roasted beans, you will love this machine. It is very easy to use and not cumbersome. I really like the layer of crema because it satisfies the desire for smoothness. I am no longer using half and half with the coffee drinks, so it is much healthier too. I haven't been to a coffee house since I got this, and will probably only go to hear an acoustic guitar player or some other social event

I have nothing but good things to say about this machine. It's easy to use, it makes coffee as well as espresso, it's easy to clean, it's inexpensive, and the coffee is phenomenal. I highly recommend it

Best Answer: Nespresso offers a recycling service for used capsules. You'd have to purchase sealable UPS Recycle bag/s (available for order via the Nespresso website) that come w/ UPS labels already attached. Once you fill the bag w/ used capsules, drop off the bag @ your nearest UPS.

My new Nespresso Vertuoline will not brew coffee. I doubled check the instructions to ensure that I was operating it correctly and I still an not get it to brew. Has anyone had the same problem? Thanks
A shopper on Jan 7, 2016
Best Answer: I experienced the same thing but the next day when I tried it it worked fine and has ever since. I presumed I was doing something wrong or I didn't realize that it doesn't brew right away when you first press the button. It pre wets the coffee and let's it sit for a minute before it actually starts brewing so maybe you aren't giving it enough time. It is a minute or less but it seems like a long time because it makes noise and then nothing happens.
