They smell disgusting
After I used the pie weights for the first time, I hand washed them and air-dried them before putting them back in the jar. When I took them out a few months later to use again, they smelled DISGUSTING. Like a combination of mildew and wet ceramic. I hand-washed them again and even put them in a laundry bag and put it in the dishwasher (top rack) but the smell won't go away...

Are there enough weights to stack up the sides high enough to keep the sides of the pie shell from slipping down?

How many weights are in a jar? I want to use for individual tarts and need to know how many per jar to calculate the number of jars needed. Thanks.

When using pie weights when do I remove them?

Best Answer: You can remove the pie weights after the pie crust is fully baked before adding the filling. You can either let them cool before removing them or take them out as soon as the crust comes out of the oven.
