Made of heavyweight aluminized steel for exceptional heat conductivity and durability, this professional bakeware features the Ifalon nonstick finish, which won’t chip or peel, and is 10 times more durable than traditional nonstick coatings.

Sure you can use a flat pan but using the baguette pan works so much better. Being able to bake 1,2,or 3 loaves at a time is a plus.

"I am planning on surprising my other half for Valentines Day. He is always disappointed with the baguette here in the US. He keeps saying that he wishes he knew why the ones in France were so wonderful. I am hoping to replicate that for him. I read that this pan is a must for authentic french baguette so I am going to give it a try.

What are the dimensions of this pan?

BEST ANSWER: This pan is 16"" long, 9"" wide and 1"" deep. Each of the 3 bread wells is 3"" across
I've been using this one for a few years, but I could not have a time last 10 months. Today, I used it using same recipe. Bottom of baguettes stuck badly, I had to tore off. Should I use oil or non-stick spray?

BEST ANSWER: Hmmm...have you been washing it with soap after each use? I was told, if you're dealing with a nonstick surface, not to use soap. I just wash mine out with very hot water and I've never had a sticking problem. Also, you could try sprinkling a little cornmeal in the bottom. Some of it falls through the holes, but not all and that may prevent sticking and have the added benefit of some crunch. Hope this helps.
