Good size pot but...
This is a nice size pasta pot for two people, but the colander does not fit low enough into the pot. The pasta only has about 2/3 of the pot's capacity in which to boil and move around. The colander might almost work better as a steamer basket. Next time I will boil pasta without the colander.

Perfect all purpose pot
Now that we are empty nesters It is so very seldom I need to use my larger 8 quart pot. I discovered this in the store and bought it. My husband and I use it almost every other day. It is ideal for the soups, stews, pastas and steamed vegetables I cook today. And All-Clad cooks evenly and is so easy to clean. I love this essential pot.

I have the 12 qt pot which is great but is way too big for my day to day needs. This size is perfect size when I'm cooking for the two of us and is the one I reach for. Love All Clad quality and performance!

Don't fill me too much or I will boil over!
I was disappointed with this pot, hoping to fill it with more water to accommodate a full pound of pasta. With the strainer inside, you can only fill it to accommodate 1/2 pound of pasta.

Nice pan, unfriendly design.

To streamline my kitchen. Instead of a separate All Clad 8 quart pot (which is too large for my needs) and a separate large collander, this will serve the function of both eliminating two items in my kitchen.

Why does the description say this item - 6 qt. pasta pot - is made in China? I thought All-Clad is made in PA?
USAmade on Jul 11, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Most AllClad Cookware is made in Pennsylvania, but there are still a few, lower cost pieces that are outsourced to China
why are some of the All Clad products on sale made in China? All Clad is usually made in the USA
A shopper on Feb 16, 2015
BEST ANSWER: All-Clad makes a few pieces called Specialty Cookware pieces. These pieces are made of 18/10 stainless with a thick stainless steel/aluminum disc in the bottom of the pieces rather than all the way up the sides of the pan. These pieces are still high quality that All-Clad is known for, but provide a lesser expensive option for specialty pans you might not use all the time This 6 quart pasta pot is one of those pieces. Don't shy away from it. It's a fabulous pot!
How many pounds of pasta can you cook at one time in the 6qt pasta pot?
A shopper on Dec 27, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Not more than a pound, I'd guess. I haven't tried more than a pound, but the problem would be either that the srainer doesn't sit deep enough in the water or else it dusplaces too much. Boil-over is a problem.
Can this pot be used in the oven?
Margaret S on Oct 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Absolutely. The only thing that might stand in the way is the height of the rack in the specific oven.
Does All-Clad make a vegetable steamer insert that fits the 6 quart stock pot and pasta cooker?
A shopper on Feb 14, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I haven't found one that is made for this particular size pot. However, the pasta cooker works well for steaming asparagus, broccoli, cauliflower, peas, etc. The bottom is about an inch off the bottom of the stock pot, so you can just add water to the bottom of the pasta cooker and your veggies are steamed, not boiled. It won't work well if you fill the pasta cooker full of veggies, but works just great about 1/3 full.
What material is the steamer insert made of? Thanks
Lisa on Feb 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Lisa,

The steamer insert is made of stainless steel as is the pot. I bought it because of quality and size. I live alone, and do not entertain very much. It is just right for making enough pasta for two. Still, if you are likely to have four or more people over for pasta, you might be better off with a larger size. All the best.
will this insert fit any all- clad 4,6 or 8 qt. tri-ply stock pot?
A shopper on Dec 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No, it won't. Those pieces vary in size. Other pieces would either lack the necessary depth or diameter.
Does this steamer fit the 6 quart pasta pot (1551522)?
Lan K on Dec 8, 2015
All-Clad Pasta Pot, 6 qt.
All-Clad Pasta Pot, 6 qt.
All-Clad Universal Steamer Insert, 3 qt.
All-Clad Universal Steamer Insert, 3 qt.
BEST ANSWER: No, it sure doesn't.
