Why did you choose this?
Sur La Table Store
Seems to be exactly what I've been looking for. I like that the depth of color of the brew can be observed and that it is microwave safe (minus the strainer, of course). I have smaller, "single serve" versions of this , so I was glad to find the 24 oz size

Bought one of these a couple months ago and just ordered three more. Very good teapot. Perfect size for a single cup and gives the leaves room to brew. Very happy with it.

I have a Hario brand individual drip for coffee. My husband drinks tea. Also, it is a great way to serve tea to guests. This is one of few things not made in China.

Does this teapot go directly on a gas burner?
A shopper on Aug 25, 2014
BEST ANSWER: No, this teapot can't be used on the stovetop.
Is it microwave safe?
A shopper on Mar 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The glass teapot itself is microwave-safe. The metal strainer isn't. I remember the box said one thing, but the directions said another, so it was confusing. I think it was a translation error. I use mine in the microwave. It's a nice little teapot, and you can see how strong your tea is before pulling the strainer.
IF USED IN THE MICROWWAVE DOES THE HANDLE GET HOT?
CONNIE F on Sep 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: If used in the microwave, without the mesh, the handle will get warm.
Directions on how to use...amount of tea, how long to steep, etc...? Just got one for Christmas.....everything in Japanese.
A shopper on Jan 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: There are many blog posts and articles you can find about brewing loose leaf tea. Generally, most people use about 1 spoonful of loose leaf tea per cup of water, and let it steep for 2-5 mins. There are also many varieties of loose leaf types and they all have different characteristics and flavors. This pot works well for any kind of loose leaf tea - including black and green varieties. Once your tea has brewed to the strength you desire, remove the basket. This pot pours so well. No drips! You can also use it to serve other sauces, etc. for that reason.
Does this teapot keep the tea hot?
A shopper on Feb 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I steep the tea for about 5 minutes. At that point, the temperature is perfect for me. If I drink another cup, however, I do need to microwave that second cup of tea. I'm OK with that. It's a beautiful pot that makes great tea.
Can you use on stovetop?
A shopper on Sep 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, you cannot use on the stovetop. This pot is very fragile and care has to be taken when cleaning.
Is the strainer made in Japan too?
A shopper on Feb 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes it is also made in Japan.
Is the pot made of broscilic glass?
A shopper on Oct 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I can best answer this as 'probably' and here's why: the teapot is described on the Hario website as:

Hario ChaCha Kyusu Maru Design
When it comes to tea glassware we are the masters. The Hario ChaCha Kyusu Maru teapot is elegantly designed to assist you with that all important "cuppa" in the morning, in the afternoon before lunch or in the evening before bed. It is made out of heatproof glass with a stainless steel infuser basket and permits the brewer to watch the tea boil, producing quite a spectacle.

Since Hario describes it as 'heatproof glass', one can assume that it is made of borosilicate glass; however we all know what happens when we make assumptions :)

Sure hope this helps!
