Our exclusive covered cake stand is perfect for storing and displaying cakes,
hors d’oeuvres, muffins and more. Stand features an elegant footed base and is topped by a glass dome. Skilled Polish artisans hand craft each piece using timeless glassblowing techniques, so no two stands are exactly alike.
I was looking for a good cake stand that was more cylinder like in its cover than dome-shaped, as I find that dome tops are an issue with tall cakes. This cake stand is very effective in that regard. The price is also not too bad, especially if you use one of the mailer coupons Sur La Table always sends. I subtracted a star only because this cake stand is SUPER fragile. The glass is very thin and could easily break if you're not careful. I find this especially true when I need to wash it...it's like handling an egg! Therefore, I use deli sheets (available at local culinary/restaurant stores, or you could use parchment paper) and place my baked goods on the sheets rather than the actual stand to keep cleaning to a minimum.
Traditionally, like to give cake stands to brides and grooms. I give from my own selection of vintage pieces unless they, specifically, register for one. Love that they can use for all celebrations in their lives!
Best Answer:I want to lean more toward no. With a double layer cake, you're looking at 2 2" cakes & however much frosting you use to fill it & frost the outside. You have 5 1/2" of clearance on the inside, but your cake will most likely be a minimum of 5" tall, which seems like a pretty tight squeeze.
