DON"T PURCHASE IT!!!
I purchased one right before Thanksgiving at the store in Boulder, CO. I tried to use it at Thanksgiving to check the turkey-it didn't work. I put a new battery in-still didn't work. Tried to return it-the man at the counter couldn't get it to work-the lady at the counter worked it a while and finally got it to work-I requested a new one just in case. She refused to give me a new one. She said it worked. I got home and tried to turn it on-I couldn't get it to work, no one here has got the probe to turn on??Could it be that I just purchased one with problems?never-the-less-the Boulder store wouldn't exchange or replace-get a different one!

Get good results even in an old, unreliable oven
I'll just say this thermometer does everything it says it does. Roasts come out perfect.

BUT, I would have bought the thermometer with the remote alert feature if it had been displayed when I asked for "thermometers." It was just a little more and would have been worth it.

Nonetheless, I have spent my money and am pleased with this purchase.

Unreliable
I purchased this thermometer for my husband at Christmas last year (2014). He's tried to use it several times, but has only been able to turn on two or three times, it's been frustrating but he hasn't thrown it away. Today, he got it to turn on and it displays the oven temp but says the food temp is "HI". The instructions indicate the probe is malfunctioning. Too late to take it back and I can't see where to buy a replacement probe. I won't buy this item again.

There is no indication in the instructions regarding how to reset the "Set" temperatures for the food and oven. From one cook to the next I want the ability to set these temperatures to different values. How do I reset these values?
James G on Dec 23, 2014
Best Answer: What I'm reading in the instructions indicates you set the temperature each time you use it.
"Press the FOOD °T button to set the desired temperature under SET in the FOOD portion of the display. Press and hold for fast advance."

oven temp not reading accurately on thermometer , reads lower than set oven temp. Is the coil through oven door lowering oven temp?
A shopper on Oct 31, 2015
Best Answer: Closing the door on the thermometer cable has no effect on the temperature reading unless the cable is damaged or broken. It is more likely that one of the devices is not properly calculated, more than likely your oven. To check the thermometer, put the probe in the oven without inserting it into anything and set the oven temperature to 350 degrees. Let the probe sit in the oven for at least 15 minutes. The oven temp and meat temp on the thermometer should read the same regardless of the oven temp. If they do not read the same, the thermometer is not calibrated properly. If the oven temp and meat temp both read the same but do not match the oven temp it is the oven that is not calibrated properly. You can also check the thermometer by bringing a pan of water to a boil and inserting the probe. The meat temp should read 212 degrees unless you live at a much higher elevation like Denver. This doesn't prove that the oven temp probe and the meat temp probe are calibrated, but it will at least tell you if the meat temp is accurate. Hope this helps!
