Space saver works great
So happy with this small raclette. The challenge in my rural town is finding appropriate cheese. The American made cheeses have too much fat, don't easily achieve the chewy texture I cherish in raclette cheese. The machine heats up quickly, does a good job melting and getting to almost crisp cheese (to liking). I "toast" up a slice of hearty artisan bread on top while melting the cheese...quick and substantial breakfast.

If there is sausage or ham or other leftover meat around, I heat it the top. I'm thrilled with my raclette. Melting cheese this way achieves a texture I can't get broiling an open face cheese bread. Nonstick surfaces hand wash in a mini-jiffy.

We love raclette, but it is a bit of a pain to make in the traditional way - a huge chunk of cheese warmed over the fireplace. This looked like a simple method for the two of us. I was also impressed with the description of how easy it should be to clean.

Does the bottom of this raclette melt the cheese?

Best Answer: Yes. Your cheese melts in the bottom and the top is also quite hot and could be used for meats. Boska has a nice video of the cheese melting on their website if you want to see it in action.
