I grew up using the rollers with the ball bearing handles, but I think this type is worth a try. For me, it's easier to apply the pressure I need, it's easier to clean, and the best feature is the length. You can get the whole pie crust/cookie dough with one pass
This rolling pin has won me over to simpler is better for this kitchen tool. I have gone thru any makes and brands: Williams Sonoma silicone split apart, marble was way too heavy & bulky, I even burned a favorite wooden one in an old kitchen that lacked space. This rolling pin is just the right length & longer than others I have tried. Easy to clean and perfect weight for rolling out pie crusts which is my thing
I have every type of rolling pin out there -and I get perfect results with this one. One pass - as it is long enough to get the job done. also without the tapered ends as on the French pins I get a level rollout - no high/lo areas that need retouching. Cleaning is s much easier too- no little gaps to catch bits and pieces in. And made in the USA!!
I noticed I had been using my handled rolling pins without using the handles so I decided it was time to buy one without handles. It's big, it's sturdy, and it works. My 10 year old daughter used it the 1st time to roll out sandwich bread for a pressed grilled cheese so it's not too heavy. Washes up easily...time to go bake some more.
I wanted a heavy cylindrical pin to roll out pie crusts, biscuits, soba if I get industrious. This one is perfect. I am old and wanted the pin to do most of the work, and it does. The only thing I didn't like is the product code label left sticky goo on one end, and I don't want to use solvents on anything I prep food with. Recommended.
