I am so pleased to purchase the above Demeyere Industry 5 Saute n with Lid. Not only do I use it to sauté my different dishes with water, I also use it as a Dutch Oven to cook my Salmon dishes , a Rice Cooker to cook my various healthy rice, to heat up some left overs. This is my first Demeyere Cookware. I bought it to try it out and was very curious why it is rated as the number 1 Cookware among the best cookwares from my research. It is a very special cookware-with the multiple layers of Stainless Steel with Aluminum in between the Stainless Steel. It is also very healthy safe cookware because the Aluminum doesn't touch the food and only used as an even heat conductor- the food is cooked well with balanced heat. It is not too heavy nor too light to be junky. I am still in the process of examining and enjoying this new addition to my collection of Le Creuset, Staub, healthy safe Clay cookwares. Oh my gosh .... I was worried that it was somehow going to be a watered down version of my Demeyere pieces. NOT A CHANCE!!! more precise dimensions (Inside diameter 9 7/16" by a depth of 3 1/4" I am so glad I got it!! off to my induction stove to test it out (as if I needed to). If I had discovered Demeyere 20 years ago I would have so much LESS "all-clad" These people designed the first cook pots for use with Induction (works just as well with all other heat sources). Induction has been the 'norm' in Europe and has only just began to 'catch on' in the 'States. John C. Campbell III Annapolis, Md.
I have a new condo with a cooktop that has two induction burners and two electric ones. A big change from my beloved unfancy gas range. Anyway since my old aluminum clad Master Chef All-Clad from the 90's won't work on half the burners I'm looking to augment my cookware with pieces that'll work with induction. So far I've gotten Cuisinart Multicald pro which I like quite a lot, an All-Clad tri-ply 2.5qt 8" casserole (which I like least because of its tiny handles on the pot and the lid), and this Demeyere sauté, which is actually more like a small rondeau. Anyway, this pot is heavy and the lid is very heavy as well and fits well on the pot. LOVE the big handles! They make it so much easier to maneuver the heavy sauté. It seems to heat up faster on both the induction and the electric burner than the new All-Clad. It also responds well to a reduction in heat on the induction burner. It responds more similarly to my old Master Chef All-Clad used on gas, which is a good thing to me. I highly recommend this pot if you don't mind the heavy weight - it s quite a lot heavier than the Master Chef and I love the relative lightweight of the old All-Clad - and can appreciate beefy handles and this pot's responsiveness to changes in heat. It's a keeper.
I purchased this around the holidays. I like that it's 2 handles vs 1 long one. I'm new to demeyere. This saute pan has performed exactly as expected. I wish I could afford at least 1 more. I also bought the 9.5 skillet a few weeks after this saute pan; the lid of this pan loosely fits on the skillet; but definitely good enough for me. My next purchase will be the biggest skillet when I save up enough $$ or it goes on a ridiculous sale..
This is by far my favorite everyday pan. When I read the other reviewer describe it as a mini rondeau I was sold! I had purchased the Demeyere 3.5 saute pan but without the helper handle on that piece it was rarely used it, ended up returning that and got this one. It is pricey but you'll never have to buy another piece like this again. It's beautiful, functions extremely well, and is easy to clean. I've used it for stews, soups, Spanish rice, and hot pot/shabu shabu. If you can get it on sale + coupon you'll really be wagging your tail, as I am.
I have another Demeyere pan and just love it - I use it almost every day. With no handle screws on the inside of the pan, clean-up is really easy. This brand is very high quality and anytime it's on sale, I try to grab new pieces.
I took a class at Sur La Table and our group used a Demeyere pan for a significant part of the exercise. It performed significantly better than the cookware used by the other group. I've since purchased a couple of Demeyere pans myself and love them. This seemed like an excellent addition to my kitchen and on sale it was a superb price.
My new house has an induction stovetop, so I sadly have to replace my 25+ year old All-Clad Master Chef cookware that has an aluminum exterior - I'm gonna miss my gas stove!.This mini rondeau was on sale and reasonably priced. and is versatile enough for a lot of my cooking needs.
I choose this pan due to being the world's no. 1 cookware-means it has a very high quality cookware with 5 layers of Stainless Steel and Aluminum in the middle. Can this be used in place of a baking dish for one dish suppers in the oven like pork chops with green beans? Or would you suggest a baking dish for these types of dishes ?

Best Answer:Yes, if it is the right dimensions for your dish. I appreciate you can sear or brown ingredients on the stovetop, deglaze, and then put it in the oven. You may need to adjust the cooking time or temperature though as compared to a ceramic baking dish. Note that this is a pretty deep pan, so if you are cooking a casserole, you may need a shallower dish so that it can brown appropriately in the oven.
I have used this pan for on top of the stove and in the oven. I usually pansear my meat on the stove and then throw the whole thing in the oven with the lid (with Vegtables or without). It's honestly so versitile and the flavors are amazing when you use it in the oven.
I don't see why not. I routinely move it from the oven to the stove top and from the stove top to the oven. One of my favorite pans now .... If I'd discovered Demeyere 20 years ago I'd have a lot less All-Clad.
It would be perfect for such uses and that is one reason I purchased it. It is a great all around pan that can take the place of several pans in the kitchen and is the first one I reach for when cooking.
I would love to see this in a an 8 qt tall rondeau like the All Clad TK?

Best Answer:The only Demeyere Rondeau's I've seen were in the Atlantis group (copper clad) and they were 2.7 quart.I've been working with this Saucier now for a week and LOVE it. One side benefit is that I've had the medium Pro line skillet for ages but could never find a lid for it in Demeyere's product line. I'm delighted to say that the lid to this saucier? fits PERFECTLY!!!. If I'd found Demyere 20 years ago instead of 5? I'd have a heck of a lot less "all-clad" hanging from my kitchen pot hooks .. lemme tell you!!! jccampb
